Love it! Many useful features, plus some bells and whistles that I don't use. I'm slowly upgrading our system - piece by piece. This amp actually senses when the older speakers can't take what its putting out and shuts down! Buy it!

Don’t even think about it. If you want a Dolby atmos receiver that sounds great out of the box, pull the trigger. No frills with this receiver, but all I needed was something that would bring my movies to life. And this does the trick. An added bonus is the picture quality is a good.

I have had this receiver for about two months. I would normally wait a year to ensure the quality is high enough to maintain a lifespan of at least a year, but at least I'll say a few words of interest for prospective buyers. The track record (from other buyers is good, with few negative complaints which prompted me to purchase it. The features are kind of basic, but offer a number of items that really don't exist in very inexpensive receivers. It even has Bluetooth capability. It unfortunately has a lower capability to drive my Sony subwoofer than my previous receiver, but yet minimally acceptable. The programmability of tuning the back speakers is kind of cumbersome, but doable. In this price range I believe it is a candidate for one who is looking to buy a surround system that will not break the bank but yet do the job. One last thought to remember... Choose a component by model and not by manufacturer because models can range from terrible to great. Look at the reviews from people who bought the particular models and look for a commonality of negative complaints rather than someone only saying it is better than sliced bread.

Works great for what I needed it for. Set up with Sony surround speakers and Klipsch powered subs and it sounds amazing.

Been great so far for entry level home tgeatre. Has atmos capability amd I run a 5.1.2 system. Will add a sub to go 5.2.2 eventually. Great value with this avr. You will have to spend twice as much if you want 4 height chanels, so this is my go to for entry level receivers.

This receiver is a good choice for someone who's on a budget. It works well, overall. However, it cannot be controlled via a smartphone or tablet app. I definitely miss this feature.

Sony atmos 790 receiver i love it great sound it's like being in a movie theater. Especially the bookshelf (8) speakers with subwoofers. 4k 50" hisense tv to go with it. Don't change a thing.

My nearly new home had ceiling mounted surround sound speakers. Unfortunately, the previous owner did not leave the receiver. A good replacement unit that filled a need in a pinch. Works good; good high quality sound output; video output is acceptable. Lacks external stereo output option when watching TV and movies. Easy to connect to Bluetooth; output via external stereo on all speakers. Sweet Bluetooth sound!

This receiver replaced an older AV receiver. I found it to be easy to install and setup. Was compatible with all of my attached devices.

Sometimes i have to turn back off for sound. But other than that its worth the money. The sound and quality of this AV is awesomeness.

Sony has always impressed me with the technology and innovation they are developing. I have purchased 4 of these over the course of 10 years and each time I have been impressed with how Sony takes out the complications of setting up the new one and makes it easier each time. Easy to follow instructions makes connection to your new TV or surround sound a breeze. Now, with the improvements to Bluetooth you can connect any nearly any brand of speakers and no wire connections are needed. Another great idea from Sony.

The good.. Sounds great after set up properly. Bluetooth connectivity is better than average. The bad.. Goes into over heat protection quickly when used for music at party volume. Conected to Bose studio speakers.

So far it is working fine. The only issue is my Harmony multi remote doesn't work with the unit except to turn it on and off. Also each time I turn the unit on it makes me go through the setup procedure before I can just watch my TV. I do like the sound and the options for the sound to my speakers.

This stereo does everything I need to do to power. My WB speakers and my wolfers makes my sound system. Make some movie work really well.

Easy to connect to any Bluetooth device. Connects super fast to devices that have been connected before. Quality is amazing. Love it.

After 50 years in broadcasting I have become very picky about video quality... After I upgraded my TV to a 4K unit I needed to upgrade my receiver to one that would pass 4K video. I picked this Sony unit and am very pleased with its performance. It has great sound quality at a reasonable price...I WON!

Loving this. Sound is very clear upgrade from old receiver. Also best looking one in my opinion. Alot of new receivers look dated. Looked like my old one. The sony though looks up do date and sounds awesome! You don't need alot of things the more expensive ones have. This works perfect!

Good receiver for the price, just a couple of issues. The audio source keeps changing for some unknown reason, and the calibration mic is not working. The sound quality is on par with the 10-year-old Yamaha that it replaced.

A great receiver with TV, DVD/CD, AM/FM radio and enough HDMI ports for our Apple TV, Amazon and other home movies in our home theater!
