    Missing HDMI 2.1 features, didn't turn up very loud and was a step down from my previous Sony STR 1070 AV receiver. Now if you're on a budget and want something slightly better than HTIB go with Sony AVR. If you want something immensely better than Sony go with Denon IC series of AVRs.

    Bought in June 2020 as upgrade to the 5.2 Ch Sony model below this. In January 2021, it started turning off and could not follow instructions to update firmware, so must have had a very rare defective unit. Before it acted out, it worked quite well with our Sony Bravia 65-inch TV and Sony 4K Blu-Ray player. Replaced it with the DenonAVR-S750H.

  • Fickle Auto Calibration/Cheap Spring Loaded Connec

    First the rear connections - fronts are binding connectors, rear are cheap spring loaded connectors that pop off if you do anything more than touch them daintily. Now the fickle calibration... 2.0 auto calibration went fine. Added the center a few days later (3.0) - took several (upwards of 10) attempts to get this thing calibrated - finally worked. Added the sub a few days after that and bi-amped the fronts. Amp recognizes 5.1 with bi-amp and won't calibrate. Forcing it to 3.1 won't work. Removing bi-amped rears from profile to fake receiver into 3.1 doesn't work. Lots of instances of calibration issues on web - I should have heeded those warnings.
