Overall I gave this product 5 stars. It’s super easy to setup, sound quality is great. Automatically switches inputs when I power on one of my gaming consoles. Automatically turns on and off when I power my tv on or off. There are just 2 things I wish were better. There is no testing for the speakers and you have to cycle through the different sound fields. So, if you accidentally pass the one you want you have to cycle all the way back to it.

I've had it for about a month now and Its been great thus far. Its simple, easy to setup, plays nice with 4K HDMI sources. I was used to 5.1 system before, but decided to go for the 7.2 and am happy I did, it just fills the room better.

My 24 year old Sony receiver died recently after many faithful years of music and movies. It was a sad day. Services were held at my nearby Best Buy. Naturally I went straight for another Sony! I thought about spending more but I couldn't justify getting 9.1 or whatever because I just don't have the space for that many speakers. This nifty little unit completely fit the bill! While not as loaded with extras as some of the pricier models it simply gets the job done flawlessly. I don't think I would have been happier if I would have spent more. While my previous Sony AV receiver was higher end (meaning I spent way more) the technology has evolved dramatically in 24 years! The out of the box surround modes are vastly improved, even in 5.1 mode. Before I added the Atmos speakers the sounds seemed to come from ALL directions. After adding the height speakers it is simply a 3D audio experience. What more could you ask for? Music is as bright and punchy as ever (sorry neighbors). It took me no time at all to dial in great sound quality for all my my favorite tunes and films. The onscreen interface is very basic, but it is much more fun than being over complicated. No more fumbling in the dark looking for the right buttons to push! The remote is also simple and easy to use. Amen! While I do miss some of the high end features of my previous Sony I am completely satisfied with the audio end result that is much better than I ever expected. I'm also happy I didn't have to part with a lot more Ben Franklins to get it! Thanks again Sony!!!

I purchased this as an open box, my previous experiences have been good. The quality of the receiver is on par if not a little better at the price point. eARC was problematic at first, but now works with out issue (might be different brands had a hand in it). So when I turn on the TV the receiver will power up and switch to the SAT/CBL input automatically. Using this with a Def Tech Mythos SSA-80 sound bar (5.1) and it pairs very well, full sound and volume without issue. I've deducted 1 star due to the on screen menu (mainly speaker setup) as being non intuitive. Overall very pleased with the purchase at full retail I probably would have gone with a Denon for a few dollars more. If you can get this on sale or as an open box definitely worth it.

Coming over from a Denon AVRS 720 W and was worried that the sound quality wouldn’t be as good given that this is a budget priced receiver. Happy to report that it is actually better sounding especially once you do the automatic speaker range test set up. I have this paired with my old Bose acoustimass system and it’s never sounded better. More separation, larger sound stage. Balance in the lows and highs are far more controlled. Only downside is that it does not have an on screen display menu. That said, it’s very easy to navigate the remote.

Well overall I have been happy with this product. However, I did have to return this product after the first month because it kept shutting off. The store was very understanding. I was 6 days past the return date but they returned the product with no issue and provided me with a new one. So far the new one has had no problems and I like the sound it provides. Kudos to Best Buy for great customer service.

Wow this an awesome setup and sounds freaking amaZing! Okay so this supports newer audio tracks such as Dolby Atmos and Dts-X which sound phenomenal through this system. This system aslo allows 4K HDR10 pass through with video quality and supports Dolby vision! The only con I have is if you don’t know how to calibrate your system the automatic calibration kinda sucks, but other than that this system is perfect and gives you a very immersive experience! I’m huge cinephile so I watch a crap load of movies and this is perfect for me as audiophile on a budget!

This was such a great purchase for the price considering all of the features and the price if similar Dolby Atmos receivers. I replaced an old Pioneer receiver. This works well with my Vizio P65 tv with ARC because I can use my tv or Roku remote to change the volume of the receiver. The receiver also turns on and off automatically thought ARC which is great. The display on the receiver is helpful because it shows the audio mode such as Atmos. I'm no audiophile but I highly recommend this if you'd like something reasonably priced with great sound and functionality.

Bought this after thanksgiving. Deal at $200. Regular price $349. I think it is a great deal at $349, but $200 makes it that much sweeter. Replaced a $1000 Old Sony receiver that was 18 year old in the master bedroom. Amazing how far technology has improved. Much clear without having to set volume so high like the older receiver. Dolby Atmost really works all the speakers opposed to the 7.1 system which hardly ever the surround back speakers would produce any noises. Can’t go back to non-Atmost. Now my living room surround system feels poor in comparison. I now need to replace it. However, I will look for an receiver with an additional zone. So the 1080 might be the one to buy next. I strongly recommend it.

I bought this product for my small home theater setup. I didn’t need anything super expensive but something that had the power for all my speakers and sub with the capability for Dolby Atmos. The setup was easy as long as you have a slight understanding of how to wire a speaker into it other than that not including tuning of the speakers through the amp, it is plug and play and for the cost it was a great purchase that I have no regrets for.

My new home theater is built around this receiver and the sound quality is amazing for anything we watch. I have it setup as a 5.1.2 and the soundstage is great for this price point. My only gripe is the setup screens and the remote. Getting the options menu to show up on my main display is a huge pain. I have to hit the options button on the remote for just the right duration to get it to do anything. It can literally take me five minutes of fidgeting with the remote to get the options menu to show up and stay there. Sometimes, it'll show up for just a second and quickly disappear. So annoying.

Overall I’m very impressed with this receiver. It was very easy to install and even easier to set up. I found it easiest by having the receiver hooked to my Audio Return Channel (ARC) HDMI port on my TV. It displays the Receiver menu on the TV. From there I just selected the system setup I had (e.g. 5.1, 7.2, 7.2.1), then plug in the microphone and let the system auto adjust! The best thing I like about this receiver is that it automatically turns on with the TV and changes mode based on what input is being used. For example if I turn on my PS4 with the controller, the Receiver and TV come on instantly. The second I turn off the PS4 or TV, the receiver goes into power saving.

I began having issues with my Onkyo tx sr 393 after only 4 months. I wanted another 5.2 receiver but this was the only one in stock that wasn't too expensive. I initially was going to use it as 5.1 only until I found out that Dby Atmos speakers can be mounted on top of my front tower speakers. Set up was a little confusing at first for speaker configuration, but not too bad. Love this unit! More user friendly than the Onkyo and sounds great. Only issue just a minor annoyance is that every time I turn on TV the onscreen menu pops up asking me what I want to watch or listen to. I bypass but hitting sat/catv button on remote. Would definitely recommend this unit.
