    I chose this Sony, to keep all the audio components the same. So far, pleased with its performance. Except for this; when switching Inputs over to TV over-the air channels, the receiver won’t automatically switch back to tv speakers. I will admit, I’m still learning about this unit.

    I bought on an open box deal. Quality and sound are good. One thing I didn’t like was, when used Bluetooth from my phone and turned the volume down an back up again. It wasn’t as loud as before. I would have use the reviver remote to get the volume back up loud again.

  • Just too many compatibility issues

    We’ve had this 9 months and the HDMI ports have been changed, renamed, and now just don’t work. We only use it for tv, no other added components and constant problems. It’s also just not compatible with fire stick at all. Really disappointed since we added in speakers and set it up and now are probably going to have to replace it in less than a year. We are pulling it out and fixing the signal problem at least once a week. Just cannot recommend this.

    Very disappointed. For such good reviews, can't help but wondering if they aren't fake. From the lack of any pass through, to the miserable display. Then two weeks into using it, my 4K fire stick looks like standard definition. But when I plug the fire stick directly back into my LG OLED, it look like HD again. Then I look up and Best buy says it cannot be returned and it's still well under 30 days??? Sony's lack of any descent on screen display is totally underwhelming. I should've spent the extra and gone with Denon AVR-2700H. This is one relatively expensive mistake.

      Hi there, we are sorry to hear that you are experiencing issues with the picture quality. We'd love to troubleshoot the issue that you are experiencing and make this a better experience for you. In the meantime, please follow these steps to isolate and troubleshoot the issue.

      -Depending on the TV or the video device, 4K content may not be displayed. Check the video capability and settings of your TV and video device.
      -Be sure to use a High Speed HDMI Cable with Ethernet. When you use high bandwidth video formats such as 4K/60p 4:4:4, 4:2:2 and 4K/60p 4:2:0 10 bit, a Premium High Speed HDMI Cable with Ethernet, which can support bandwidth up to 18 Gbps, is required.
      -If your TV has similar menu for high bandwidth video format, check the setting on the TV menu when you set “SIG. FMT.” to “ENHANCED” on this receiver (refer to the Operating Instructions). For details on the setting of the TV menu, refer to the operating instructions of the TV.
      -Be sure to connect the receiver to an HDMI input jack of a TV or video device that supports 4K.
      -You have to connect an HDMI cable to an HDMI jack that supports HDCP 2.2 when you use a playback device for 4K resolution video content, etc.

    This is a 7.2.2 so 7 speakers, 2 ceiling, and 2 subs. I have it setup as a 5.2 but plan on upgrading it to a 5.2.2. overall great setup. Would highly recommend this if you have the money to spend on it and don't want to buy a new one later down the line

    Worked fine for months, 11 to be exact, then it starts showing the dreaded PROTECT after being turned on. Hoping to be able to return it/exchange it. With so many with the same issue, why not just recall this unit? Not the typical Sony standard.

    This receiver was in an entertainment center but had 6” or more of open space on all sides. Even still the board cooked 3 times. The last time a week after the warranty expired. Each time it was sent back it took 6 weeks to get it back. It would work for about 2 months and back it went.

    The sound is fine although I have not yet had time to fine tune it. The price wasn't great. Unfortunately this is our second unit because the first arrived damage with loose parts jiggling around inside and then took a month to get refunded to my credit card.

    I ‘am not sure what happened to Sony. Once they used to make Quality components. My Sony receiver was running 6 speakers - 7.2 channel surround system, with one powered subwoofer connected to it. After about 5 months it started to overheat and went to protect mode and shut off every minutes. I did some troubleshooting as recommended. Power reset the unit, unplug the unit and wait 30 minutes then plug the device back in and power on. After power reset, disconnect the cables between your TV and the home theater system or home audio system, and then reconnect them. No luck. Finally I contacted Sony Customer service, they just recommend the same troubleshooting procedures, after about 2 hours on the phone with Sony Customer service, I had to send the receiver back for repair..... Sony will NOT replace unit.

    The plan was to buy a 5 channel Samsung amplifier but the store only had this 7 channel Sony on hand. The amplifier seems flawless and has been functioning well these past few weeks. My brother and I have always liked Sony products and it looks like this one will be a keeper.

    Connected to a 65" Sony 4K UHD unit, everything works as expected. It only has two speakers connected, so I need to cycle through the audio modes at start up to hear dialogue, but other than that, no issues. I'm certain some time with the manual and I'll be able to correct this, so giving it 5 stars

    Great receiver for the price! The output per channel is excellent and a large number of inputs and features to match. The only cons are the instructions provided by Sony are short and barely skim over all the features and setup options this unit has to offer.

    TO ME ITS A BIG UPGRADE CONSIDERING THAT MY OLD SYSTEM IS 25-30 YEARS OLD. I'M STILL NOT CERTAIN IF I HAVE IT SETUP CORRECTLY. I FIND IT A BIT CONFUSING WHEN SETTING UP.
