This player works excellent for 4k movies. I haven't had any problems with it. Just wish it came installed with HBO NOW or GO app because I like to use that. The remote works along with the Sony 4K TV which I found to be a nice surprise.

We had other blue tooth devices, and the quality of Sony can’t be beat.

Best DVD player I have had. Has smart apps built in, I have regular DVDs and this up converts them to 4K, not true 4K but they do look better. Have tried 4K DVDs and dont know how they could look better on my 4K TV.

Easy to set up. Picture quality is great. Good value.

Can't wait for Christmas day when I hook it up and enjoy it on my system. I will use it for both movies and music CD's.

The Sony player provided excellent 4K and upscaling of Standard Blu Ray discs. Connectivity with WIFI was also very good, and the Netflix streaming was very sharp. HDR also performed well. HOWEVER, great picture performance was offset by a number of bugs which I can only assume relate to the firmware. On non-Blu Ray discs, the player would skip at various points. [Tested the discs against a Sony S6500, and no problems.] The player also froze up several times, requiring that the unit be unplugged then plugged in to unfreeze. The Unit also lost connection once to the TV. [A Samsung JS 8500.] I also noticed that if a disc was stopped mid play, resuming the play started the disc from the beginning. I checked for Firmware updates via the internet function and the unit indicated firmware was up to date. So while the unit performs quite well when it is working properly, the above mentioned issues [ skipping, freezes, connectivity to TV] significantly bring the rating down. I would have thought Sony would have solved these Firmware issues with updates by now, however, where issues with this unit arise, they seem to revolve around the skipping and freezes. Disappointing, as I have Sony Blu rays in the S5500 &S6500 models, and both have performed without a hitch. Returned the Unit without a problem .

Purchased this to go with a new Sony TV. Really works great together.

It's a Sony so the build is hefty and great. Priced a bit high but I got it when it first came out. Does all the HDRs and Atmos too so that part rocks. But these days you can get all this a lot cheaper than this unit unless of course you just love Sony like I do.

Finally broke down to get a 4K Blu-ray, very impressed with the outcome. Easy to set up and great interface. I also like how it upscales my existing Blu-ray content, and I know I will be upgrading my favorites to 4K as time goes on.

I'm upgrading my theater room with a 4K projector and needed a source for 4K content and viewing. The Sony UBP-X800 offers intuitive interfaces and and excellent quality image whether I'm streaming video or playing a CD.

great product for a blu ray and 3d combo. the price was great as well

So far it is better than the Samsung it replaced. The Sony doesn't turn itself on in the middle of the night nor do I get the annoying occasional flicker while watching a movie. An auto play feature is something to be desired though. If I turn on the player with a movie already in the tray it goes to the movie then stops and goes to the tile screen. But still a big improvement over the Samsung.

I went to this unit in preparation for purchasing a new 4K TV. I have been reviewing 4K TVs and purchased this unit to work with my current SONY TV as well as intending to purchase a new LG OLED 4K unit. IT works very well with my older SONY.

I've owned this player for about a month. Overall it's been good, but the technology is still being perfected. I had a few issues connecting to a 4K projector after the last firmware update. Unfortunately it's past 30 days and I'm hoping future updates work it out. Also, there is no Dolbyvision support. Fast load time and quiet.

I have used this unit to play 4K DVDs and stream videos from Amazon Prime. Picture quality is excellent. On-screen display is intuitive and easy to use. It is a little slow to turn on and start up, taking a few seconds, which is no big deal.

Purchased this as a Christmas Gift. Great unit for the entire family

It just got installed today. Hopefully will be able to test it soon.
