Purchased this unit to replace a Samsung BluRay player the was good as a boat anchor. The unit installed easily over WIFI and setup was pretty straight forward. Sound and picture quality is very good, but cannot comment on 4K aspect as I need to upgrade my TV for that (figured I'd buy forward on the BluRay unit). The instructions do leave a bit to be desired, but after a few minutes of fumbling with the remote, you can get what you need set up. Overall, I think this is a pretty good unit. Only two things I would like to see, but can live with: 1) The player footprint is pretty good sized, bigger than the prior generation Direct TV boxes), and 2) when you are streaming from Amazon Prime and have finished a program, you cant just push the "source" button on the remote to get back to the TV - push the button, nothing happens and you have to turn off the TV, then turn it back on for the TV program to work. Maybe it is just me and I have not figured out the remote yet for source functionality.

Sony - UBP-X800 - Streaming 4K Ultra HD 3D Hi-Res Audio Wi-Fi Built-In Blu-ray Player - Black. It does not get much better than this player. Comes loaded with aps for streaming, upscaling of regular what more can you want.

This player does everything!! It is a bit more expensive, but a great black friday pickup for $50 cheaper.

Sony makes quality products and this player is no exception. Setup was very easy and took only a few minutes. After the setup I checked for updates and installed the latest firmware which took around 5 mins or so. I then put on Deadpool in 4k and it looked amazing. Player does full 4k HDR and there are also settings for 4k HDR -> SDR conversion which is great for the older 4k non HDR TV's. I also have an Oppo 203 and the picture quality quality is very close. It also comes with two free 4k movies via redemption from Sony's site. The only reason I gave it 4 out of 5 stars was this player does not do Dolby Vision like my Oppo 203 player does so its not future proof unless sony does decide to announce support. I know there are others such as samsung and panasonic that don't provide that support as well however this player was one of the last one's to release so not sure why they didn't just decide to add it. Regardless if you are looking for a quality 4k HDR player or even a 4k HDR -> SDR player for 299.99 this is the best one to go for hands down.

Excellent 4k bluray on every level , streaming content looks amazing when compared to some other devices I've tried. 4k native bluray discs take it to the next level, sound gets 5 out of 5 .

The Sony 4K Blu-ray player is the best player that I have ever owned. I have purchased a number of 4K DVDs. I have played several on this unit, and the picture quality and sound reproduction is incredible. Highly recommend.

This Sony is well built. In fact much of mechanism in this unit is the same quality as expensive high-end players. Just the weight shows that is a solid unit. Plays all kinds of audio formats Also a very nice remote.

We purchased the Sony 4K Ultra dvd player and it has brought watching tv to an entire new level. Netflix has many programs that are 4K and it's easily accessible through this dvd player. Very happy with this purchase.

Sony products are excellent investment and worth the price

While it's a bit wider than bluray players, the picture and sound on streaming and disc formats is great.

Dont go with the cheaper units, this with its dual HDMI helps make using a home sound system much easier.

This Blu-ray player is very nice. The picture quality is wonderful! The only thing I don't like about this one, as compared to our previous Sony Blu-ray player is that they took out 95 percent of the apps that they used to have. Crackle, Vudu, Hulu, Pandora, and many others are gone. Only Netflix is there.

Solid built player for 4K Video fast and reliable player.

This blueray player works excellent with my 75" Samsung Qled tv, which I purchased from best buy also. smile The colors and picture are precise and clear. I am very glad the best buy rep informed me about this item.
