I have been using my PS3 to watch Blu-ray movies for years. I upgraded to a Sony 4K television last year and when I connected the UBP-X800 to my TV, there was a noticeable improvement in the picture and sound quality. When I place a movie in the player, my TV automatically switches to the movie without opening additional menu on the TV. The player is very quiet and runs very cool. I would definitely recommend the player to family and friends.

I researched all of the top 4k players before I made this purchase. I compared this one to a much more expensive brand. This one just had more features in my opinion. Thus, it was a no brainer for this purchase. I still don't have a 4k TV, but do have a few 4k movies. I played them on my Panasonic plasma TV. The difference was outstanding, compared to my Blu ray movies. I like everything about this player, especially with the sales price from BB.

great features, easy to use and got it for a great deal. if you love tech then you know you have to upgrade to 4k players. i can tell the difference for sure and trying to match all your products together just doesn't cut it anymore. look at the true specs and test before you say something.

This DVD works great with my new Sony 4K TV. The 4K movies are much brighter and more Vivid to look at

Nice to have extra dvd services & YouTube on the player. Odd design that a big 95% size front face door opens just for a Blu-ray/4K disc. I presume the box is filled with vital hardware or they could make 4k Blu-Ray players just larger than a disc. Sony lights are historically too SMALL, I can barely see if power's on or any other lights are on. The REMOTE was programed to my Vizio M50-E1 4K TV, yet the volume button doesn't work. Each TV brand had 1 setting code, but Vizio has 3, so I have to refigure if 1 of the others is for my TV. Vague instructions if you don't have a PhD.

Bought this item for my dedicated home theater. Excellent quality, at a very modest price. Have always trusted SONY products for highest quality components.

I have not tested all the features that this 4K player has to offer such as the HI-Res audio but I can say that it excels at playing 4K movies. When I first bought my Bravia HDR wasn't standard so my current TV doesn't have it, from the reviews online that I read this player even helps sets that don't have HDR. I couldn't do a side by side comparison but all I can say is that Planet Earth 2 looked amazing on my set even without HDR.

This 4k player is effortless to use. The picture quality is excellent. I have had no issues so far.

4k HDR how can you go wrong? Upscaling capabilities and it's a perfect match for my 65 inch 900E TV

I originally purchased this to go along with my 4K TV, thinking it was a upgrade in video quality, but I never realized how fast blu-ray players have become. Picture quality, speed, and build quality are amazing. Three reasons why I didn't rate it 5 stars: It doesn't have a time display on the unit. The home menu is a terribly dated and unpleasing interface. The remote is a little lacking in size and features. Overall, highly recommend, especially now that prices have dropped. Also, Sony was extremely fast with shipping out my movie rebate. Props to them for that!

This little gem exceeded my expectations in almost every way. Sound quality increased significantly. All my DVD's and Blue rays look so much better. The unit is well built and has an understated elegance . My only disappointment is that I cannot play my (HD Tracks) FLAC files , but my Super Audio cd's sound great Very pleased with this player..

I've been waiting for this 4K Player since it was first announced at CES. Ordered it for in-store pickup from the website and was ready the following day (really impressed with the speed and accuracy of my order, THX BB). Easily connected it to my Sony XBR-55X850D. I only have a couple 4K movies, for now, and have been testing them along with their regular Blu-Ray counterparts and the difference is amazing. The picture is absolutely gorgeous. Also, Sony's running a deal that you can get 2 free 4K movies with the purchase and registration of the player. Definitely worth the wait for this one.

Upgraded from a DVD player to this 4K blu ray streaming unit. Easy connection to my A/V and device setup. Very sleek design and solid construction. Smooth and quiet operation. Streaming apps are easy to access and video and audio output is superb. Video up scaling from my old DVD movie was surprisingly high quality. No regrets on this unit.

Easy to set up and use. Blu rays look better upscaled with this player than my old blu ray player.

I've owned the Panasonic UB900, Samsung K8500, and currently own the Oppo 203 UHD Bluray players. In simple terms, the Sony X800 ranks highest in bang-for-buck ratio. Better image quality than the Samsung, on par with the Panasonic, but short of the Oppo player. I love the Oppo, but it does cost almost 2x the Sony, and for most that is not really worth it. For the vast majority of people, the Sony is the best option. The fact that it plays DVD-Audio and SACD is just icing on the cake. Highly recommended.

If you have a 4k TV, you need this DVD player. It plays regular dvds, bluray, and the new 4k dvd format. The picture is spectacular, as it upgrades the first 2 formats listed to 4k. The online menu is nice, and it streams the wi-fi apps, well. If you don't have a smart tv, this does it all. There are only two small things that I question Sony on. 1. No optical sound option. 2. No backlit remote (this is annoying).

I couldn't wait for this Sony 4K player to hit the shelves so I bought the Samsung 8500 first. The Samsung is a good unit but this one blows it away. The pic quality is superb and audio is spot on. I am totally pleased with this player, no hiccups and set up was a breeze. Works great with my Sony 55" 4K TV. This is a home run, thanks Sony.
