Very easy to use, great player and enjoying 4K UHD movies.

I bought this player because it claimed to play virtually and disc (Blu-ray/DVD/DVD-A/SACD) and you know what? It does. So far so good. I will say this....my Sony STRDH750 didn't seem to be able to handle the 4K video through a single HDMI Cable, but this Blu-ray has 2 HDMI outs, so I ran just audio to the receiver and 4K video directly to my 4K TV. Worked like a charm. I have no complaints, plus I got a great deal!

This 4K player delivers the goods. Price is reasonable (for 4K players). Even if you don't own a 4K tv with HDR this unit will breathe new life into older blu ray movies. Upscaling is excellent. Better than any of the Samsung 4K players. Yes I had theirs and this Sony is better.

I Am glad I got the Sony UBP-X800 vs any of the others out there. This was a Birthday present to self and a Pre-Black Friday purchase ,As Best buy was doing some Black Friday sale prices on my Birthday (Nov 10). I checked many reviews before settling on the Sony. I wanted a standalone 4k Bluray player even though I have the Xbox One S that does 4k Bluray. The Sony has nice build quality,with some weight to it.

What makes it superior isn’t the fantastic unbeatable picture display, it is the absolutely unbelievable sound quality reproduction that this machine produces. Even a movie from 1965 looked and sounded better than I have ever seen it. And all the movies are crystal clear.

This is a very nice 4K unit.....easy to set up and operate. Video display is awesome !!!

I’ve had this 4K Blu-ray player for about two weeks. And while it renders a great picture I’ve had it freeze up on me one time. It also had trouble recognizing my Wi-Fi. I have only been playing 4K movies on it and have not had a chance to play regular Blu-ray’s yet. It will only add 60p with the upscaling but I wanted to see how they would look. I don’t recommend this model and would encourage you to read lots of reviews on alternatives.

I purchased the Sony UBPX800 Ultra 4K blu-ray player after my XBOX 4K player left me feeling like something was missing from the viewing experience. This Sony UBPX800 player brought a totally new experience to my TV experience. I played an old Lethal Weapon blu-ray movie (non-4K) and the upscaling made the movie look like it was a new movie released in 2018. There's no "snowing" effect in the movie as I experienced with the XBOX 4K player, just clean and clear picture. The player has apps you can download. I haven't downloaded any apps as my 4K smart TV comes with all the apps I need. I just need this bad boy to play movies and produce a picture like the TV's on display at Best Buy -- and it delivers. I can definitely say not all blu-ray players are the same (my initial thought). The player has a premium weight/feel and is silent during movie viewing. I've not experience any issues so far (almost a month in). A lot of people will recommend an OPPO or Panasonic. I'd say save your money. Some will say one con to this player is no LED display on front of unit. I've actually enjoyed not having a LED distraction during movie viewing. I've nevered spend this much on a blu-ray player, but I needed the best movie experience possible with my expensive TV. I wanted to feel immersed in the movie experience as that is the intent when anyone is upgrading to a 4K TV, right? Oh, yes and 4K Movies rock in this player as well! Enjoy! : )

My surprise upon receiving this player is that it is twice as long as any of the 2000-2016’s, so be prepared. The immediate challenge is that this Sony player needs an immediate update and you cannot update it yourself. It fails every time. After an hour on the phone with Sony, they are aware of this problem and have hundreds of calls. So, they have to provide you with a flashdrive with the update on it. Well, it took at MONTH to get a flashdrive that they said would be here in 10 days! So, you are not able to use your blu ray for a month! But after installed it allows you to see a spectcular image on the screen: more colorful, more details and a brighter image. If you can go through all the challenges that Sony puts you through and wait a month to use it, then it is worth it. I have a 4k Sony tv and had read reviews that this was the player that I should purchase; that is the reason I purchased it.

Easy to navigate, great picture quality. I haven’t had any problems with it. Love it!

Unpacking: Heavy, solidly built form factor. If one is used to displays and buttons you won't find them here but that's not a bad thing. There are only two buttons: Power and Eject. There is a USB on the front which is a nice design for manual updates etc. I have a rack and it's a pain to have to find a connector in the rear like other HT units. Has simple express setup or the ability to set up the specific settings. Playing Disks: Fairly quick UHD-BD,BD,3D-BD boot with excellent picture! Note that UHD's with HDR may surprise with how dark they may look compared to the BD versions due to the subtle graduations of the scene lighting, but others will look wonderfully natural compared to the BD. It takes some getting used to but for those "dark" disks but the most part all look pretty amazing. i'm very please I made the jump to UHD's and very pleased with the performance and ease of use with this player!
