I discovered my new Optoma 142x projector wouldn't work with my older Sony AV Amp and the other Sony 580 Blu-ray player I have for 3-D, so I had to find a solution and this machine has a separate HDMI for audio. It does what I need it for but it does have a couple of querks I don't like. It up scales to 4K and there doesn't seem to be any way to adjust that back down to 1080 unless you just shut off up scaling completely and that gives you a crummy looking DVD experience with many disks. My old 580 up scales DVD's to 1080 and they used to look great. If I leave updcaling on it bumps everything up to 4K and then the projector has to scale that back to 1080 and again you get a crummy picture. Blu-ray disks and 4k disks look outstanding. Streaming from Netflix and other services take a few seconds to find and display HD, so the first minute or two of anything looks crummy until it achieves full 1080 resolution. The Optoma 142x is not a 4K projector but this was the only solution that seems to work to give me 3-D. Over all the pictures are stunning with normal Blu-ray disks. The 800 also does not seem to have as many smart apps as my old 580, but mostly I just use Netflix and Amazon on the 800 and a Roku for everything else.

I like this Blueray Payer very much. The picture is sharp and it is easy to use.

12 years ago I had purchased a Sony professional line rack size DVD player it worked flawlessly no problems I finally after 12 years decided to get another pro line DVD player but I wanted one that was 4K compliant and also good upscale . After waiting almost 2 years Sony finally release this new unit which is absolutely spectacular it has great picture quality upscaling with the regular DVDs works just fine and when you play any 4K or even Blu-ray content it is absolutely stunning on a Sony television built for that kind of resolution . I will definitely suggest that you purchased high-quality HDMI cable's with the set and if you can get your hands on redmere technology cables this works even better this is absolutely a wonderful unit. This is specifically designed for the videophile viewer and does a wonderful job you can almost pretend you're like at the movies at home.

I have a nice surround setup and without going to the next level of audiophile offerings in Bluray players, I thought I would try this. I am extremely pleased with the audio and would buy again. I am moving to a 4K tv in the near future as my receiver and player are ready but cannot comment on 4K video but was rated high, but can say the DVD content was great using this player.

I just brought this player last week, Here are the advantages i found: 1) Superb HI Res sound quality. My Denon 500BT and Bose accoustimass 6 is rocking with this Blu Ray as well as with 4k videos in Netflix. 2) Fast Forward and Rewind are awesome on Blu Ray and as well as Netflix, YouTube. 3) Solid Build qulity. 4) Very Quite while playing BluRays 5) High quality video.

Many reviews said it lacked a front display for knowing movie time, etc. The remote has a button 'display' that shows all needed info on the tv screen! Great Hulu streaming. Heavy unit can't bounce around. Very happy with purchase plus 2 free 4K movies!

the sony ubp-x800 is my first bkuray 4k player and connected to my 4k sony tv. very simple interface and easy to operate just like i want it. now the picture quality just blew my eyesight away with this 4k sony player, im going to watch past movies all over again to experience them in 4k quality..

Overall, I am very pleased with the easy of connecting to the TV. The set up is easy. It presents a great picture and sound.

I bought this following the Wirecutter recommendation. It was $150 as a Christmas doorbuster. Some cheaper plastic units from Samsung are quite noisy, which I wanted to avoid. This one is quiet enough that I don't hear it once the movie starts. It loads DVD, Blu-Ray and HD Blu-Ray's in less than 10 seconds and the remote is easy to use in the dark. I don't use the streaming features. But the movie playback is excellent on my Samsung KS8000 4K Television. I would certainly purchase again.

It's a good player and is solidly built, but it has few apps if that is a concern for anyone these days and the power light is very small. There are no other indicators on the front. Depending on placement, you may not see the light. It is a wide player. Excellent quality on 4k playback and it plays the 4k discs my Xbox One S couldn't.
