This player puts out true full 4k for incredible picture quality viewing

So far so good. Visually speaking I have zero complaints about the quality I get when playing 1080 blu-rays and when playing UHD blu-rays. The player is hooked up to my receiver and I get really good audio and video playback. I'm not an expert so I can't wow other potential buyers with great techno jargon. I can just say it plays well and I am satisfied. Be sure to get a really good cable. I suggest Monoprice Certified Premium High Speed HDMI Cable or SeecurOMax braided cable which is also certified. Both are certified 18Gbps playback (I hope I'm saying that right) and the cost is way better than what you would get at electronic stores. I would be remiss if I didn't at least name one con and I really only have one. The apps on this player leaves little room to be desired. My TV is loaded with apps so for me it's not a deal breaker. Plus I got this to play 4K movies more than anything else. Anyway I have to say anyone relying on their 4K player to be apps heavy will be disappointed. It is severely limited. At Best Buy you have 2 weeks to test it out and return it. I returned a player that was $100 more and got this one and I plan on keeping it.

Anytime I buy something that is fairly new technology I go with a name I can trust. That has not let me down in the purchase of this sony 4k blu-ray. It has a sleek modern design that will complement any room, a exceptional performance and quality you've come to expect from a legendary company like Sony. If you want a 4k Blu ray no need to shop around just buy a Sony!

Top of the line 4K Blu-Ray Player. Super crisp picture and easy set up.

great player, far surpassed my expectations, astounding amazing picture and up converting to 4k. I would suggest to buy this player, can't go wrong, and cheaper than some others at twice the price, but I know the picture couldn't be any better.

Player is easy to use and set up, great picture from both bluray and 4K

I got this on sale, a few weeks ago. I am very happy with the picture. The menu is less comprehensive than some other players, and reading the manual is really helpful. Minimal front display, with only a light indicating the power is on. That's fine, as you can hit a button on the remote which brings more information than you really need to know, on the TV's screen.

Works great, easy to set up, slim and sleek. The picture is incredible.

This is a great 4k player. If you can catch it on sale, I would definitely recommend getting it. The High resolution audio is also a must have if you have an audio system. I originally purchased the Samsung 4k player and later realized that it didn't have high resolution audio. I immediately noticed a difference in the audio when I switched to this Sony 4k player.

This is the third Blue-ray player we've bought after having trouble with two lower priced Sony products. What a difference! Internet speed through wifi is twice as fast and doesn't drop connection halfway through. Sound is amazing on our surround sound. Picture is fantastic too, on our Sony XBR from this player. This is one product where you get what you pay for!

No nonsense 4k player. Does exactly what it promises. Worth the price

I've only owned this about a week, but happy with the player so far. Can't comment on the smart apps (I use a Roku Ultra for those), but it's a solid, heavy player (helps reduce vibrations), fast startup, and does upscaling and HDR well. The home screen has a spartan UI, but it's functional, supports tons of A/V formats that can be played off a USB stick.

I wouldn’t consider myself an expert. However, I do feel that this 4K Blu-ray player does everything that I needed to do. I tried to find the best value of features and cost, and that’s what led me to this product. I have been very happy so far. The clean lines are also very attractive.

4K movies look incredible with a Sony HDR 4K tv. Incredible detail.

4 stars are in short for Sony leaving out Dolby Vision. But looks great physically and on my tv. Front display could’ve been an easy upgrade, but as stated in my title, it’s bare faceplate adds to the simplicity while build quality and overall feel make this a beautiful addition to entertainment center. Had a few hiccups at first with updating and random 1 second black screens during play. Overall very happy with the purchase over the other UHD BD players I was comparing

I was looking for a streaming 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray player that was compatible with my new Sony flat screen tv, the Sony UBP-X800 was priced right and because the tv is Sony, it is very compatible. It does everything I want and the deal was sweetened by Sony giving up two 4K UHD Blu-ray dvd’s from a list of recent releases, about a $60 dollar deal, what a deal!

Easy to use. Hooked right up to my tv and everything looks great.
