    I don't konw much about the magnolia products that cost considerably more, but this particular unit has been used pretty well. I've used it on a number of Blu Rays and 4K Ultra HD discs. Overall, i'm happy with it. I also like the aesthetics - sleek and it has a nice cover that folds down to expose the disc tray. Nice when trying to maintain the clean look. Very slim profile, which was nice for my particular setup. Average heat radiating from the unit. Nothing major.
