So, that being the case, I will only be using this as a DISC player. My concern is the huge door that has to open/close every time I change the disc...why does that door cover 90% of the front? Will this hold up long term to constant usage? To be determined...

If I have one complaint, it's that the Wi-Fi takes a minute or two to connect after I turn it on, where I was often trying to access Netflix or another online service before the device connects to Wi-Fi and then prompts me to set up Wi-Fi. Now I know what to look for to indicate it's connected so it's not so much of an issue.

The user interface is intuitive and comes with a few popular apps built in like netflix and hulu. I would have like to see a complete listing of the apps available before purchase. The display indicated 300+. I see only a small fraction of that, maybe 20. Overall I am very happy with the player and would have given it 5 stars if it had better app support.

Waiting for improvement

I had to read a few online FAQ articles. There are some details during set up that are easily overlooked if you want proper 4k. I also purchased a 850 series Sony 75" display with this and still had trouble. Also, the unit has frozen several times and i have had to unplug it to reset, which is a pain because I have completely enclosed cabinet for components. The unit has also several times not recognized it had a disc in it, but then wouldn't let me use any other functions (Netfilx, Hulu) while it decided if a disc was in the tray. Next issue and its going back.

Also, while we have only played a couple of 4K Blu-ray disks and a bunch of regular Blu-rays/ DVDs, and the picture clarity (combined with our Sony 4K TV) is spectacular! So far, I highly recommend it!!

I'm very happy with the performance so far, and it has a nice selection of apps. The only thing that could be improved is the styling. It is in large case, and the remote looks like an old Trinitron remote. Function over form I guess. For the price, it is a good purchase and I hope it has the reliability that Sony is known for.
