This machine had no installed apps and would not download any, even though it connects to the internet. Each time I try to add apps it go through the connection process and reports a failure to connect, even though it is connected. Picture quality is average, compared to blue ray not at all what I expected with my top rated 4k tv.

Very few players will play 4k - but this one will. YEAH!!

Smart device with good streaming and picture quality!

I had a tough choice between buying this Sony Blu Ray player or the Microsoft One. I'm not a gamer and already have a PS4 that I've used twice. This doesn't it's job and it's right in the middle of the pricing bracket. It does what I need it to do!

The Sony 4k player has excellent picture and sound. For the first time since I've had my 4k TV I actually get a fantastic picture when playing a 4k movie. I previously had a Sony Blu-Ray with upscaling. It doesn't come close to the new 4k player.

I recently upgraded to 4K Ultra TV and thought, I need to upgrade everything now, or I will not be getting the true 4K Ultra experience! I'm glad I stuck with the Sony device's! It's nothing less than Outstanding!

much easier to use than other ultra hd dvd players

Bought this standalone 4K player hoping to have it take over my existing media player, an XBOX One X. While playing 4K movies the picture quality does slightly edge out the xbox but I found the picture too dark in some scenes, changing the picture mode didn't do much to help. Where this absolutely fails is being a media player. The Netflix app on this vs the xbox is night and day. I tried watching an old standard HD TV show and the picture quality was grainy. I expected decent upscaling. Even streaming HD movies was not that good in comparison. Ended up returning it. If I were only playing 4K discs I may of kept it, but it was just not worth it for me.

Plays my DVDs in excellent upgraded resolution. The upgrade resolution almost look as good as 4k. But over all a very good product. Money well spent! Had this product for approximately 1 month. Hope it maintains the excellent quality over time.

We bought this after we lost everything to a flood. We couldn't be happier. It does everything we need it to and the remote is very easy to understand. You will definitely enjoy your viewing more with this device.

I connected this player with my 4K 3D TV. Its quality is very good. I like HDMI port 2 (for audio). When you want to connect this item with a USB flash drive for a long time you prefer rear USB port to front one. It only has one front USB port.

While large this machine makes no noise and is a wonder to use for your physical media. Glad to purchase and haven’t explored the connectivity or apps yet. Do your self a favor and opt for this rather than the 700.

It plays virtually every format available. Set up was very easy. The quality of 4K Blu-Rays are stellar. It upconverts BluRays and DVD very well. I would buy another one if I needed one. Plays SACD and DVD Audio if you have some.

I’ve been using this 4K player since Christmas 2017. The set up was very easy to perform. 4K playback has been excellent with no skipping or pixilation. I’ve also played audio CDs and SACDs with no complications. Highly recommended.

I bought this when my Samsung died......it has a much better picture, more intense colours and overall, much better quality than the previous one. I used both with a 65" Samsung 8000 series, so the TV has not changed: but the picture has!
