Then just after my 1 year purchase mark, it stopped playing discs all together. After calling tech support and going over several trouble shoot problems with them, nothing helped. It wouldn’t even let me update the software through WiFi nor through USB stick. Literally nothing worked. I was able to open the disc tray and that was about it. I took it to Best Buy (where I purchased the player) but was told unless I am a geek squad members for $299 a year they won’t be able to fix it?!? The player conveniently stopped working just 1 year after the manufacture warranty ran out! $318 just thrown into the trash! I called around to see if other places could fix it but just the diagnostics alone would cost at least $80 not including the repair costs. I’ve always been a Sony fan even with my TVs but now that my Sony tv is acting up as well I decided to buy Samsung products from now on.

I still play CDs, SACDs and DVD-As. Performed great until one day it would not power up anymore. Glad I got a Geek Squad plan. The player was not fixable so I was refunded the price I paid for the unit. Too bad, I really enjoyed the unit until the end. The features are equivalent to the ES 1100. The MK II is scaled back in features compared to the original 800.

Won’t update, won’t play, won’t nothing. Hardly used unit. Loads movie-then nothing. Worked fine last month. I’ve got older units that work fine. This one is dead after 2 years and probably only 6 movies old. Makes no sense. I did troubleshoot everything from Sony site with no results. STAY AWAY!

Doesn't work perfect all the time

We have tried everything in trouble shooting. Highly recommend you purchase insurance if you buy this unit

At first I taught the disk was scratched. After experiencing the same with multiple disk, I realized it was the player.
