I ordered this about 2 weeks before Black Friday when the price really dropped. Bestbuy shipped it quick with no damage upon delivery. The player works awesome but had one weird thing when I played my first couple 4K and Blu Ray DVD’s. The sound out of the right channel would pop and click like I was listening to a record player. Since then. It stopped and works like a charm! I did the updates to the latest firmware and have noticed no freezes or any thing else that would cause me to dislike the unit. Sound is amazing and pic is better than blu Ray although my 65” LG is about 5 years old. I’m running Monster THX 1000 cables and 4K works good with those. Overall I’d give it 4.5 stars if I could. If you hear popping and clicking, be patient because it may clear up like on mine.

I had to return it because it freezes in the middle of the movie.

There is so much to love about this blu-ray player. The first thing I liked about it right off the bat was the remote. I have an older model sony blu-ray player and the remote on it is way more complicated than this players remote, and this player does way more!! The set up for this player was very easy. In fact when I had the power cord plugged in, and the hdmi cable connected to the tv, the last step was to plug the hdmi into the player, and the second I did that my tv turned on and switched to the correct input for this player. (I am using this model with a 2016 model samsung 4k smart tv) After this it continued to be simple. It asked me a few questions about language preference, wifi preference, etc. It did a quick software update on its own, and just like that it was ready to go. The main menu was very clear and not confusing like other operating system menus I have seen on products like this. Since you are navigating by remote, on other systems it can sometimes be unclear about which icon you are on on the screen, but this one was very clear. On screen you will see options to play the disc in the player, or use other built in apps. The ability to set the preferred apps you want always on your main screen is very easy, otherwise there is a option after a couple more remote clicks to see all the other apps available. I tried the pandora, youtube, and netflix apps and all again were very easy to navigate just like the devices main menu. I watched youtube videos that I knew were in 4k and others that were in 720p or 1080p and all looked good, of course 4k looked the best but 720p still was not terrible. Next I tried two different blu-ray discs. The first was the most recent hunger games movie and I did notice a slight improvement in the quality compared to our blu-ray player that does not feature 4k up-scaling, although the difference was not all that drastic or impressive, I am still hesitant on how well of a feature that really is. I also had to mess around in my tv's picture settings to improve how the movie looked, but that is not the players fault. Next I tried a blu-ray concert dvd from a pop concert that definitely had a lot of light and color and detail, it was a great disc to test this product with, and it honestly looked great. I was impressed and being the video quality nerd that I am, I found myself paying more attention to the video quality rather than the actual concert. Overall this is a great blu-ray player, the easy operating system along with the built in apps definitely make it worth it. Still hesitant on the 4k up-scaling feature but I'm sure as technology progresses that feature will be more noticeable.

stopped working after 1 year. not happy. Did like the small size but not the quality

On electronic I’m more on the Korean brand , but I bought it due to a recommendation , and I didn’t like it , poor quality.

Difficult to use. No indicators on front whatsoever, does NOT stream 4k. Very disappointed.

Beware—this model’s software has major problems. Inconsistent, unreliable performance.

Worked great for 2 years then one day I turn it on and only black screen comes on. Tried everything

Couldn't connect to internet for updates. Spent over two hours with tech support; but unable to fix problem. Spending this much money on a DVD player and can't connect to the internet for updates is pitiful. Will return.

too many issues !! I replaced the first one after 11 month off purchase on warranty then the same issues on the second one after 8 months of replacement .. I use it 3-4 times in a month .. I contact Sony and the refuse to fix or replace .. they says you out of warranty !!!

I just took back my Samsung for doing the same thing. I should have done my homework fo the Sony. The movie goes into slow motion then stops when ever it feels like it. I will take it back and just watch blue ray. So much for all that money I spent.

This thing sucks, currently bricked!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I tried to register the DVD to get the free HD DVDs. It didn't work. I called Sony several times. When I finally got them on the phone they said they would fix the problem with registration and get back to me. After a week, I returned the Sony DVD as they never fixed the problem nor did they contact me.

would not recommend this product, i have several sony items, just had issues with this player

hi, I have owned the Sony X800 4k player for almost a year now. this player is great and i cannot say enough great things about it. pros * Excellent picture quality. stunning 4k HDR 10 *dolby atmos and DTS-X *easy connect bluetooth and just as easy screen mirrioring very quiet operation and smart apps work pretty flawlessly with minimal error. *great premium build and runs super fast ....works with my other sony tv remote so that i only need one. *i was able to get rid of my Roku Ultra HD streamer as this has everything i need and use for anything current * no dolby vision on discs but streams dolby vision on the apps just fine cons *no dolby vision disc support *minor freeze errors i had it freeze on Netflix once in the year i have had it. summary: this is a mid range player that plays very high end for a fraction of the cost. if i had to do it all over again having also owned the Samsung KS8500 player i would buy this one again. i am thoroughly impressed. however, the newer model (X700 series) doesn't even compare to this model

I’m not happy with this unit. I wish I would’ve bought another one. I’m not happy with the loudness, it’s not loud enough and there aren’t enough speakers. We are in process of fixing our house after the flood and we purchased this unit and took us a while to set it up due to the rebuild we would’ve brought it back. But unfortunately we are stuck with it.

I expected to get the normal Sony high quality product, but this just didn’t do it.

I wish I knew these issues before purchasing this unit. It replaces a sony blu ray that worked and streamed perfectly. We just wanted UHD 4k blu ray player. Wish we hadn't upgraded.

Very good machine and playing 4K movies are excellant. Only con is the selection of apps and npt being able to download any. I only use 2 apps very disappointing. Thank God for the firestick.
