all I can say this Sony 4k player is better than the Samsung in picture color and sharp ness on regular blu rays more options of audio that I don't use I'm just more interested in picture color and sharpness

Compared to other 4k players on the market at this price range, it's the best one to buy. Possibly with the exception of the Panasonic, but that one is more than twice the cost of this player. It has Dolby Atmos which was really important to me.

this is great for all audio scad and dvd audio and cd Sony did a great job with this well worth the price blu-rays upscale nicely don't know how the 4k disc look yet don't have any but my sacds sound much better movies do to love this player

I got this after I sold my Samsung 4k player which was not a bad player at all. The sony player does have a better looking picture and sound in my opinion. Price is not bad plus if you go online you get 2 free sony 4k blu ray movies when you buy this player. Great deal and great player!

Just picked it up and noticed the difference from my previous Sony player right away. Picture quality is superb, easy install, sound is fantastic and I would definitely recommend it. It's larger than my previous unit but the proof is in the pudding. Seamless for use with my Sony tv. Definitely pick it up.

Easy set up, excellent 4k Picture/upscaling on BluRays and easy to use apps. I use the on line apps to stream 4K content. This player loads BluRay disks much faster than previous BluRay players. We have this unit connected to a Sony XLR 55 850 4K tv which is an outstanding match for viewing 4K BluRay movies.

The first thing I noticed about this player vs. the 4K streaming Bluray I have downstairs is how fast it switches between streaming services. This has all the major apps I need: Netflix, Hulu, Vudu, and Amazon, plus a few extras like Spotify and Crackle. Setup was simple, and once again, quick. There was an immediate software update required, but it went fairly quick as well. Definitely one to consider if you subscribe to a lot of streaming services.

This is really a great unit! I have had no problems at all with anything! The apps work great the USB is a great feature and 4K movies look awesome! The Dolby Atmos sounds amazing! real easy setup. The only con on this one is no Dolby Vision. Other than that its well worth the money!

I had the Samsung 8500k. It was a good player. But the Sony x800 is so much better. The tray that opens the disc is quiet unlike the Samsung 8500. The picture Quality is a little bit better. The Sony x800 is a lot faster when searching for chapters in the movie. I really like how it's fast and not slow when going through the menu. Awesome 4k player. I would recommend this to anyone.

Pairing a 4K player with a projector meant that the MOST important thing to me was increased resolution rather than HDR. Having read several websites and reviews from both Amazon and Best Buy, I am pleased with the increased resolution on 4K movies but even more pleased with the upscaling the Sony is capable of. It's not a night and day difference but enough to justify the price. Not enough to justify the price of an Oppo or Panasonic though. CNET says the Sony's upscaling is better. This Sony is an "upgrade" from my Oppo BDP 95 which is much heavier than this Sony but nevertheless, the Sony feels sturdy. The HDR with my Epson isn't as great as with a tv, but projector owners will be pleased with the increase in resolution for this reasonable price. I just watched Oblivion on standard Bluray last night and can't imagine the 4K version looking that much better to warrant replacing my old blu-rays.

Operates smoothly and quietly. Although it has crashed a few times on me, mostly when left on pause for an extended period of time.

First its built quality is great. Not cheap plastic. When you take it to your hands you feel it. Getting started (Initial setup) is very easy and you don't even have to use the given manual. It does everything needed even with the latest software update. It has some apps and I don't much worry about that since I have the Sony XBR65X900E TV model which is Unbelievably great product. The player is so quiet. You cant even hear anything when you run a disk which I like a lot in this player. And another important option is Bluetooth. Very easy to pair and easy menu and settings. Most important part of the player is the picture quality. It is crispy clear. No lags super fast reading. Really worth for the money and no need to think twice if you can spend $300. Really happy with this purchase. I highly recommend this product who is looking for a Blu-Ray player with crispy clear picture!!!

A very well thought out product, with a quality construction, with features that make it the latest range of 4K HDR and Hi-Res technology. With an easy-to-use interface, Sony knows how to make a user's experience good. Highly recommended

I have to say this is the best Sony blu ray player I have owned. Its well built and solid. The boot up time to the menu is quick, so far all movies I have played in this player load up very quick. All movies I have played on this player look sharp and sound incredible through the home theater system I have. Also wow im so glad there is no more vibration from discs playing. My other small Sony blu ray player I had it suspended on rubber stoppers to reduce some of the vibration. Not with this model. When you pick up and take this player home to set it up you really feel like you purchased a nice movie disc player. Theres also a usb port on the front and you can play any media files and music you have off a thumb drive and right to the tv or home theater system. On sale this model is well worth picking up.

I purchased this 4K Blu-ray player on 2-2-18 & all I have to say is that the picture quality is outstanding! Wonder Woman was the first 4K movie that I bought & it looked incredible! I have it hooked up to a Sony 65x900e & together they are a lethal combination of home theater excellence! You will NOT find a better quality player at this price range, or slightly even higher! Also, as others have stated, the build quality is second-to-none - this player is built like a tank! I highly recommend it without ANY hesitation whatsoever!

Wow - what a surprise! I purchased this product to connect my bluetooth head phones to streaming device via Hi Res Sony 1000X head phones. I'm totally impressed with HiRes Audio! absolute stunning sound quality. First major upgrade in audio in years. The 4K player works great as expected. Up-convert works great for streaming. No need for Roku any more - this Sony processor is fast and offers better quality picture and sound.

I had a Samsung 8500 for almost 2 years, then it would just shut off on its own. It did this over and over and since I was out of warranty, my wife told me to just buy a new one. Best Buy had a sale on these not long ago so I picked one up. Far superior in terms of build quality, and video processing alone. I have a Samsung TV I'm connecting this to, but we also just got a smaller Sony for the upstairs and I bought a second x800 for that one. Testing the player to a Sony TV, I think you get the best possible picture quality when both are paired together if you can. It's worth it. The only issue I have had is the player has frozen a couple of times but this could be due to the update. I'll be looking into that but aside from that one small issue, this player is great!

Installation was a snap. Features are geat. Fantastic unit until.... Sony doesn't let you add any outside apps. Only the guys that paid them for spots. You cannot add any networks that you can get on a smart TV. If you do not have a smart TV (or don't want one) You better look at the apps that are on it. You get amazon, Netfix Vudu, hulu crackle, spotify , yes... MLB Baseball?, and opera as featured apps including fox news ( not a problem to me but I probably will never watch it that way), Youtube ., pandora, and then you can choose from about 8 others. If you're trying to cut the cable, this isn't it. I ordered a firestick and will probably just use this as a DVD payer and Pandora... I got rid of a cheap Samsung. The only problem with the Samsung was there was no indicator light showing on or off. I'm not sure if this is an issue with samsung but I thought I could add any app that I wanted with it... I did not pick this myself. I had a Best Buy rep online-chat help and the apps were not one of my criteria... for a $200 DVD player. I just assumed I could download that apps I wanted. So.... firestick was ordered!
