I love Sony products and thus didn't disappoint, the picture is unbelievable. I love that this player has Wi-Fi, it even upconverts lower resolution blu rays. Very light and thin profile, would highly recommend.

Just got this. What I like is the streaming service from the built in apps that's already installed. I.e: Amazon Prime, Vudu, Netflix etc. I connect this Player to my LG SK9Y sound bar to take advantage of the High Definition sound. and HiDef picture. For this player costing @ under $300.00. You can't go wrong. Why I get a 4 star. It's well built, good sound and pictures, good value but upgrading the firm ware is not smooth. I had trouble upgrading the firmware and was going to return it. But I gave it one last try and it finally connect. I don't know what the upgrade was but an upgrade software is an upgrade.

The 4k player makes a real difference!!! The picture is amazing and the sound quality makes you feel like your in the movie! I can see goosebumps on each character in the movie. 3d for this is above the rest!!!

I had a 4K upstream player before and I'm glad I upgraded. Upstreaming helps, but nothing like seeing it in actual 4K. I went with the Sony thinking it would work seamlessly with my Sony 4K TV. No issues there.

Happy over all streams well and plays discs well but was very disappointed it doesn't have a zoom feature which I like for getting a larger picture when movies are in the 2:35-1 letterbox format so I gave it a 4 star rating, the dual hdmi was a must for the hdr since my receiver although fairly new is 4k compatible but not hdr compatible so needed the video output to connect directly to my projector (which is a pain to switch to watch 4k hdr content but not the fault of the player) and the audio hdmi output for my receiver, was a very good deal on sale at $215 but personally wouldn't pay more than $250 for it unless it had zoom feature included

I bought this on "Black Friday" and for the price I paid for, you can never go wrong. It is a very good player. Picture quality is excellent. if you don't need analog audio output, this is the best out there.

Very happy with purchase so far. Outstanding quality and picture. Was nice to find a "full size," rectangular shape player, and not a miniature, or odd-shaped player - fits much better with rest of equipment.

I purchased a 65" Sony 4K TV (Bravia 900E) and am thrilled with the fantastic picture. I had an older Sony Home Theater System which was OK. I decided to go for the Sony UBP-X800 and when it went on sale for $200 off, I jumped at it. It is a true breeze to setup with a Sony TV. I hooked up the sound bar, my Blu Ray Player, my cable box, and Apple TV. Watching television does not do anything with the sound bar in the way of a truly better sound. But when I put in a Blu Ray disc, the picture was amazing and the sound truly blew me away! The simulation of surround sound is amazing and the base from the Blue Tooth sub woofer shook the room! Although the sound bar is expensive, it perfectly compliments the amazing picture.

I had not had personal experience with 4k Blu-Ray before buying this player, but I'm glad I did. I had recently purchased a Sony 4k HDR TV and wanted to match it with some 4k content as well as having a quality up-res option for regular blu-rays and dvds that I already owned. After doing some research, I settled on this due to the ratings here and other professional reviews around the internet. As expected, the picture quality and sound from the 4k blu-rays I've purchased/tried on the system are incredible. I've honestly never seen films that look this good, even older ones. Regular blu-ray discs even shine on this player and the up-res capability makes the difference between these and a true 4k blu-ray almost imperceptible (almost). The thing that surprised me the most was the up-res capability from regular DVDs as well. Granted, most of them I tested were Criterion DVDs and their transfers of old films are first class, but even so, they were actually viewable without becoming a globby mess of pixels and color. Not blu-ray quality, but still good to know that I don't have to replace/upgrade all of my old discs. The wireless update feature for software/firmware is a good quality as well since there are quite a few of these pushed out by Sony. I only mention this because quite of a few of the cheaper 4k blu-ray players need to have a wired connection for updates. This player does have streaming capability with the usual suspects of Netflix, Amazon Prime, and Hulu among a few other random streaming apps. I'm not sure whether you get true 4k from apps like Netflix though as it doesn't seem to push 4k streams to my TV the few times I've used it. Overall, a great 4k blu-ray player that also does a great job at up-res as well.

As good as it gets. I have owned 6 DVD players this includes 3 Sony’s. The setup and operatition are all first class. If anyone has any doubt test drive “Planet Earth 2”4K. Wow this is as good as it gets

This player came highly recommended, and at the sale price it was the model to get for the features I wanted. It has a good selection of apps, and between it and my LG OLED tv, blu-rays look amazing! I have not tested Ultra-HD yet, but I can't imagine it getting any better. I did have to turn off HDMI control, though; for some reason, any time I switched inputs on my receiver, it would switch to the blu-ray input and turn this unit on. I'll have to do more research to try and figure out why and if it's a factor more of my Onkyo TX-NR777 AV Receiver than the player. It's also oddly slow to power off, or was when I had HDMI control turned on. But those are only minor detractors for a great player with a great image.

Really quality player with a great picture. And have to say one of the things I like most is it has a really good remote control. So many of the new machines come with terrible remotes that are hard to use.

sony tv 900e model connection easy. the 4k player has excellent pictures even regular bluray and dvd play fine. only problem is that i havent found a way to eject or turn off player from the sony tv remote

This Sony 4k dvd player not only offers an upgrade to the video quality but the Dolby Atmos audio refines the quality of all the music and special sound effects of the 4K dvd. Great improvement in many ways.

I love it. The picture and sound is AWESOME. The fact that it has Bluetooth on it so I can use wireless headphones to watch a movie at night is fantastic. I can't wait to get more 4k movies to watch on it.

This blu ray player has great picture and sound quality. It plays 4K movies much better than my Xbox One S. It has a few problems however. Sometimes when trying to access apps it freezes and has to be unplugged. Also, when playing a disc that's 4:3 it sometimes starts up in the wrong aspect ratio. Stopping the disc and starting it again fixes the problem. My only other complaint is the lack of apps. My Samsung blu ray player has a ton of apps, while this Sony only has a few in comparison. Despite those negative points, I'd still rate this blu ray player at 4 stars because it usually does a good job.

Bought X800 to replace an old Panasonic blueray. Needed to upgrade to 4K to go with new Sony 930E tv and NTNT5 Sony soundbar. Great picture and sound so far, only watched one movie. Will update as needed.

I bought this as a birthday present for our daughter. She told me that installation was a breeze and it works perfectly! So glad to have the help of the Best Buy sales people to help me with my purchase.

A new way of watching movies. You see things you could never see before. Every time I put in a K movie I am amazed at the quality of the picture. It's like being at the theater especially on a big screen.

With true 4K output, even BluRay looks like UHD BluRay. Upscaling is excellent. Audio dynamic range is remarkable.
