Great DVD/Blu Ray/4K HDR Player
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The upscaling of our "regular" DVD's is excellent. Picture clarity is noticeably better when viewing both regular DVD's and Blu-Ray DVD's. Streaming Apps are easy to access and use, and all of the expected apps are present (Netflix, You Tube, Amazon, Vudu, Google Play). I was also able to customize display settings for viewing 4K HDR on my tv. This is a great player and works perfectly with my Sony 4K tv.

True 4K experience
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Need to have a 4K player to enjoy the 4K TV. This and the high-speed HDMI cable will get you 4K picture. BUT you will need a 4K 7.1 soundsystem to enjoy HD Audio as well. You've got to pay to play! Also came with an offer for 2 free Sony 4K movies, I choose Spiderman2 and Underworld

Awesome!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is my first experience with 4K. I recently bought (from Best Buy) a TCL 4K tv, and with this 4K player, the picture is Immersive! The dynamic range of the Audio is far superior to my last DVD player and the upscaling difference in my regular DVDs is also amazing.

Quality 4k Player
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased the Sony UBP-X800 4K player to go along with my early 4K generation TV. Unfortunately, my TV was right at the cut-off (65 850B) for the UHD standard that would be added to later models. That being said, the Sony 4K player does a great job presenting a 4K quality picture, although in standard definition. This player is heavier that other Sony DVD and Blu-Ray players I've owned due to the quality build to prevent vibrations during playback. I had no issues controlling my Sony 4K player through my TV remote. I'm looking forward to purchasing a newer Sony TV and building a sound system that supports the high end Dolby ATMOS surround sound this 4K player supports. If you have the Sony 4K TV to support this player, this is a worth while buy.

Love this 4K Bluray player
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. No complaints. It works great. I have a SONY Bravio 4K tv and it's a seamless transition between the tv and the player. I like that 4k dvds let me quickly resume where I left off. 5 stars for sure. I highly recommend this player and I rarely do reviews.

My second UHD Blu-Ray player.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is my second UHD Blu-Ray player. The first one was always crashing and needing to be restarted. It was made by another manufacturer. We won't say who but they also made exploding phones and washing machines. This Sony works great, no problems. Streaming is also top notch.

Good 4K Player but setup not so intuitive
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This 4K DVD player does not allow the "Easy Setup" process to take place if the home theater receiver is pre-4K. Actually it will permit a 4K DVD to play but not prior Blu-ray or standard DVDs. There is one instruction diagram that shows my type of setup but NO words about the setup process being blocked. I took back my first 4K player to Best Buy thinking that the software was flawed, but later was able to kuge the setup process by plugging the HDMI output directly to the TV and then purchase a new HDMI cable for the audio portion by peeling off the sticker on the 4K player and using it in addition to the video cable. Best Buy later sent out a notice regarding this nutty setup process for those of us with pre-4K receivers. My receiver was $600. and I wasn't about to change it out for a $150. 4K player yet. Previous generations ofDVD payers were not this difficult and this all stems from Sony's adoption of HDCP 2.2 to protect their copyright status from pirated films. After the setup processed and the software went through the mandatory upgrade process, the player worked normally. I did note that the audio was out of synch with the video occasionally on some 4K discs which required me to pause the playback and then hit the play button again. Last thought regarding 4K, one remastered 4K for "Red 2" (a favorite) did not seem to have a significant video improvement compared to the Blu-ray version. The new "Wonder woman" is great however. I found similar results in some of the older DVDs that were remastered to Blu-ray conversion previously. That may be due to Sony's Bravia 4K TV upconverting video signals. I reqlly like Sony's Bravia TV picture.
