I am very please with the build quality and over all performance with both Blu Rays and Ultra Blu Ray disks. Up scaling is outstanding for Blu Rays. You can't go wrong with this player.

Great DVD player, picture is fantastic, particularly on no 4K DVDs. Easy to operate. Remote is small, but not "too" small. Slim and lightweight. Easily slips under 4K TV on shelf.

I bought this X800 as part of a home theater upgrade. So far, it's performed beautifully with none of the glitchy problems experienced from some of the other reviewers, but I purchased the protection plan just to be on the safe side. The performance of the unit, particularly when watching hi def movies has been amazing. In fact, its getting hard to justify even going out to the movies anymore. I chose the X800 over other players available due to its' solid construction, and so far I think it was a great choice. All positives and no negative things to say from me.... I think it's a great all round choice for home theater!

I was a little skeptical about going with this 4K DVD player over my standard Blue Ray, but when you see the details in picture quality it really stands out. The fact that more and more movies are available in 4k and price was affordable sold me.

It's a great player and does the job. The only thing missing is Dolby vision.

Hook up was a breeze, programming was no problem, watching a 3D or 4K Blu-ray Disc is automatic on my Sony 4K TV! Wouldn’t want any other device. Wifey luvs the color and sound

We purchased both a 4K 75' TV and a Sony 4K player. The picture is amazing. Even our old DVDs look sharp; almost 4K quality. The player is easy to setup and use. Great product.

This Player is great for playing DVD's, Blu-ray, and Ultra 4 K discs. The one button connection to Netflix and Amazon video streaming is a real plus. All at an excellent price!

Went to get all the fixins' for my new Samsung 4k curved TV. I was looking at the matching Samsung Blu-Ray which was $30 less. The guys there recommended this one instead, even with a more expensive model. They are right it is amazing. It responds instantly and performance is great.

Short term I needed a new player for my sacd/dvda collection and this seemed like a great pick (don't have a 4K TV yet so this is also future proofing). Works flawlessly on that end. I'm most impressed with the flash drive and media server capabilities. I've been able to play almost any file I've thrown at it. The only issue I've been having is streaming apps freeze up occasionally. I've noticed this mostly with hulu. Best guess is it has something to do with the stream switching to a commercial. It was really bad a few weeks ago but there have been updates that reduce the issue. Great purchase especially if you can get it on sale.

Tried the lg 4k first but got this for the smart capabilities. I have a 2016 lg oled that won't do dolby atmos to lg sj9 soundbar. There are a few Netflix shows that have Atmos. I can stream Netflix from bluray now using separate sound out hdmi to cdmi on soundbar and Atmos works.

If you want to get the Full upscaled experience from your Blurays You need to have this player and get the Pearl Cable for it that does very well Picture and sound are Amazing

The loading and the sound is amazing. The connection and easy setup couldn't be easier. I love also the front buttons when it's in a component rack with limited access to the top.

This player has all the features to keep Dad (and the whole family) happy.

Bought this together with Sony 65XBR900E. Without any pre setup, as soon as we put the disc in, it also turns on TV. The remote can be used for tv on/off and volume change, etc. Caption can be turned on or off with a button on remote, do not have to going thru the menu of disc.

This unit was purchased as a replacement for a Samsung unit which experienced electrical issues. Even though my prior player was just a few years old, the tech has come a long way in a short time. I reviewed the options on the Best Buy site and for the price point and features, the Sony really stands alone-I am very pleased with the purchase! It linked up very easily with our home wifi, did its initial updates and we were ready to go. The unit is very quick compared to my last player and the picture quality is off the charts. My biggest takeaway is how sturdy and heavy the Sony is- good stuff and highly recommended!

It's a simple player to get into 4K, and the Picture Quality and Audio are so good, that I sold my Marantz UD5007 universal player to make up the cost of this player-purchase. IT COULD HAVE BEEN A 5 STAR if Sony would have included simple playback buttons on the front panel. So, if you are one of those guys/gals that loses your remote, be forewarned that this player will not function without one. Other than that, the build quality is good, and it actually has some 'weight' to it, which is a welcome return to 'the good 'ol days' of hefty components. This is 'hefty-light' which is good balance. THE DUAL HDMI OUTPUTS is the main reason I bought this player, and it works pretty solid (for those of you who do not have an HDMI 2.0 A/V receiver, you would hook the Video Out to your TV, and the 'Audio Out' (HDMI) to your AVR....SO A SOLID 4 STARS!
