Solidly built player
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This player is replacing a 5 year old Sony Blu-ray player only because we purchased a new 75” 4K HDR Sony TV and wanted a 4K player to match. The first I noticed was its weight due to a metal chassis. It mates very well with the TV and loads up a disc quicker then all other Blu-ray players I have had. It also plays DVD’s and even SACD and DVD AUDIO Discs, which makes it a great all around player. We are very happy with our choice and would recommend this player.

Great addition to 4K Ultra HDR TV
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Easy to set-up, and is a great addition to my new Sony 4K Ultra HDR TV. Automatically upgrades output when playing older Blu-Ray discs to near 4K quality picture.

One down, two to go
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this DVD player to replace the one (Sony BDP-S6200) I got with my 4K TV (Bravia XBR-65X850A) because the older one could not play the first 4K DVD I purchased. Turns out my TV can't "see" it eirher. Different 4K format/setup than what the TV can recognize. Neither can my Onkyo receiver (HT-R900). So, I'll have to spend another $3000 to watch 4K DVDs. As far as the new player is concerned, it appears well made, was easy to set up and update, and plays regular Blu-Ray and music discs just fine. Right now, there aren't many 4K Blu-Ray players available but I've always liked Sony products.

New Technology Blu-ray Player
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My previous Pioneer Elite Blu-ray player was 6 years old and wanted to upgrade to newer technology so purchased the Sony. Slimmer design and great Blu-ray 4K quality 2 match my Sony 75" flatscreen. It was a great choice recommended by the Best Buy salesman.

Just what I needed
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We recently moved into our newly constructed home and needed a large TV for the playroom. The Sony 75" was what we needed, but once I got it, I realized I wanted the 4K Blu-ray player to get the full usage out of the TV. We've had no issues with this unit.

Good Blu-ray player
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Good Blu-ray player I like it better than the Samsung UBD-K8500 which I had for 3 years and started freezing up while streaming. Also the picture is better matching my Sony Bravia TV but I really notice a difference in the sound or at least I think I do lol. The only thing I think it takes a little longer to start up but that could be because I have everything on a Logitech ultimate one universal remote all I know is the Samsung when I hit the DVR button it would start right up with all other devices now I have to hit the power button 3 or 4 times to get the Sony to turn on but no big deal I guess. I have checked in the settings but couldn't find anything to correct this other wise I would have given a 5th star.

Wonderful Purchase!!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Wider and deeper (though still low-profile) than any of my recent BD or DVD players, but I'm pretty sure that's to accommodate the processing power they've packed into this unit. 4K discs play beautifully with incredible detail, some scenes even too sharp (stark/harsh) for my taste so I've adjusted the display properties to soften it up. There are also an amazing number of settings within the player itself (I've got most set to "auto"). As you might expect, it's pretty much plug-and-play, just make sure to use the highest quality inputs on your TV and/or receiver and the correct HDMI cables to handle 4k video. I had some issues because I never had my receiver or TV inputs set up properly to begin with, because they all handled 1080 just fine, with the TV handling UHD directly from the network, but I won't be using the TV for streaming from here on out. It just doesn't have the same capabilities. I'm a fan of FX based movies and great cinematography and I've been playing my Marvel, DC, Sci Fi and Fantasy Blu Rays non-stop all weekend. The detail on my "old" Blu Ray movies is stunning. Watching Avengers now, and it's as if I'm watching it for the first time with details I've never noticed before, just as with the other movies I've watched through this afternoon. Blu-Ray discs, Amazon Prime, Netflix, Hulu and Vudu videos played through this unit are upscaled to, as far as I can tell, full HD, if not better. It wouldn't matter much on a screen <50", but I'm betting the extra resolution on a 65" or larger display would be especially amazing by comparison. I've owned several other upscaling players over the years. This is, by far, the best experience. Highly recommended, a superb performance!

OMG
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Purchased this to replace my Xbox 1 S as a 4k player. This thing is a beast. Colors a 100% better than my xbox 1 S and the ease of use puts the Xbox to shame.

Works Perfectly Out of the Box
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My previous 4k player I had gotten used from OfferUp, let’s just say that it wasn’t working that great, skipping on 4k movies, and eventually would just freeze up during the movie and black screen. But this player was just great, stayed reasonably cool, no skipped frames, along with the fact that when I fast forwarded into the movie, it was just buttery smooth, another issue with the other player. If you are considering getting this, and have the money for it, definitely go for it, it’s just a great player overall.

Best of class for a reasonable price
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. In doing my homework before buying this unit, I found two other 4K HDR blu ray players, but both were priced at $550. While I have invested quite a bit in my A/V system, I don't play blu rays often enough anymore to justify the price. That said I purchased the Samsung first, but seeing the quality and only after that purchase did I read the reviews for this unit, did I decide it was worth the few extra dollars... I was right. Still in the same ballpark with respect to price, and in my opinion the picture produced by the Sony is much better on my new LG OLED, than the Samsung.

It was excellent, & then it wasn’t
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Started out excellent with sharp picture, but then at just 9 months, it suddenly randomly would not work at all & read DVDs as CDs and said it could not read the disc. We tried various DVDs in it & eventually got it working again. This has happened four times now since September, and we just got it last Christmas. It’s very difficult & frustrating to get it back to reading DVDs as DVDs & required a total reboot of both the player and our WiFi and all of our combined tech knowledge. It also says it doesn’t have WiFi access when it DOES. This started happening after only 9 months.
