I bought this player to replace the Samsung 4K blu-ray player from last year and I'm glad that I did. This player reads all disc types faster than the Samsung and it will play them all the way through without skipping. The Samsung was a decent player but it did skip quite a bit and sometimes I would have to turn it off and back on for it to work again. The Sony is a dream and the picture actually looks more natural over the Samsung which could make some of the colors over saturated. If you're looking for a 4K blu-ray player then this is the one to get.

I got this player when Best Buy was giving them away with the purchased my 75' Sony. Wow is a I can say...this player makes not just the 4K movies look great but makes Blu ray and reg look even better. You will also get 2 4k movies free.

I love the picture this unit delivers and the added features are also a big win. It doesn't have a small footprint, but it does an awesome job.

For the price, the Sony UBP-X800 - 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray player can't be beat! The video quality and sound quality of this universal player is stunning for the price. It can play back virtually any video disk (DVD, Blu-ray, 3D Blu-ray and 4K Ultra HD) and any audio disk (music CD, HDCD, SACD, DVD-Audio) and output the source material as pure digital streaming so there is no digital to analog conversion that can degrade the video or sound production. I have had no issues with my unit and can recommend this product without reservations.

Good quality UHD player, but does not yet support Dolby Vision. It froze playback twice during our first movie. Hopefully that is an isolated incident.

the Best Buy salesman (Josh Milone) recommended this dvd player, he was right. the picture and sound could not be better and it is easy to use

We;'ve had this for about a month and so far have enjoyed it. It plays our DVDs and Blu-ray disks well. We haven't had time to explore its various features yet, but are looking forward to doing so. No problems and all is good so far.

Coupled with a 4K HDMI, this 4K blu ray player gives an incredibly sharp picture. And I haven't yet viewed with a 4K movie!

I spent a lot of time researching these players and actually bought the Samsung first. After I realized it did not have some basic features I returned it for this unit. This unit is much sturdier, built stronger and has lots of features. If your like me and have 3D movies, this unit will play them. You can also stop a movie half way through and the unit will remember where you left off. Both of these features are not available on the Samsung model. Easy menu and navigation make this unit in my opinion a much better buy.

I replaced my old Sony blueray player with this. Set up was easy but had to buy the newer hi speed cables. The new 4K format is excellent but honestly it isn't that much better than bluray. Maybe my 55 inch tv doesn't give enough detail as i have read the large screens give more detail etc. If i had a say i would prefer more apps like my old bluray player like youtube but i can only assume those apps will come later and are pending but as of 4-30-17 i do not have much. All in all Sony has delivered an excellent product to view true 4K content.

This Blu-ray player with the new TV I just bought are amazing together. The picture and sound quality are amazing with the 4K experience.

I have experience with products of this type. I found the UBP-X800 to be extremely easy to set up. The manual is well written, and easy to understand. The user can start using the UBP-X800 with its' basic functions right away, and learn how to use the more advance functions at a later time. So, take it out of box, follow the simple connection and startup instructions, and you are watching video or listening to music immediately. The "Home Screen" has excellent popular applications ready to use. I couldn't be more pleased. Excellent product.

Looks so good you won’t want to put it in a cabinet. Easy to set-up, very intuitive, built like a tank. And the picture is flawless.

Most reviews on YouTube, most will say the Sony is better than both new Samsung & LG models. I can't compare since this is my first 4K UHD player. It seems to have a solid build, as it has a large footprint and metal chassis. It starts up pretty quick, and the discs play quickly too (much faster than my previous Sony bluray player). Waiting on the Dolby Vision update, along with the additional apps. It only comes initially with 4 apps, but the 4-26-17 firmware update has added a few more (not hundreds though). My negatives are on the apps: Netflix is OK, 4K HDR is working with DD. VUDU app doesn't support 4K. Amazon app is still not playing 4K content; only streams at HD. YouTube, my movies are only streaming at 480.

This purchase was somewhat necessitated by an upgrade to a new Sony TV which lacked the composite inputs to connect my old DVD player. I considered using a composite to HDMI adapter but finally decided to do it right and buy this amazing machine. The video quality, even when playing older DVDs, is outstanding! The interface with my Sony TV is automatic and setup only requires connecting the two units together. Inserting a DVD automatically switches the TV input to the correct HDMI port.

I have 2 Sony players now. A 400 count DVD player and a 5 carousel DVD player. Now I need a UHD player to go with my 4K TV so I went with my past experiences and bought this Sony UHD bluray player after reading the reviews. It wasnt a hard decision . And after a few months very happy with this player. Works just fine no complaints movie play back at 2160 no matter what disc u put it up converts the resolution. Has all the popular apps wi fi enabled. And plays your 4K movie flawlessly. Worth ever penny.

I love this streaming player, so easy to use and it upscales my DVD library beyond belief ! It is like my DVD's are all brand new 4 K !
