Specifically for one reason, being that it does not support DTS decoding/transcoding. This is important, since newer TVs are starting to no longer support DTS decoding, which means they cannot passthrough DTS audio via eARC that comes from this player if the native stream is DTS. The 4k upscaling is a good selling feature, of course, but most newer TVs can also do this (and probably better). It's a good, solid player, but probably starting to show its age in its feature-set given the price.

Even DVDs look better. I have not tried Ultra HD yet. Proper scaling for older 4:3 DVD's means I can watch old favorites without geometric distortion. Seems to load faster than my previous unit. No front panel display is the only drawback. I have not tried streaming apps, just playing disks.
