Plays 4k, BR, and standard dvd's. 4k movies with hdr and sound come through great. Dolby digital up through 6.1, in all its forms (dts ex, etc), is automatically selected.

This is the first HD DVD player that has actually played an HD disc without skipping, stuttering, losing video and/or audio. Been through 3 other units..2 Samsung and 1 LG. Picture and sound are excellent. I will say that the brightness level on the HD discs, however, i slightly lower than regular bluray discs. But, it's clear and audio is spectacular. My only disappointment is the fact that it does not upscale regular dvd's. The other units played them beautifully, but not this one. I'm so tired I'm just giving up. Going to send my Samsung unit for service and hope it will ressurect to play cd's and upscale regular dvd's like it used to. I'll use two units, if I have to. I am so done. Works great for bluray and HD discs!

This is a great player. It's small, sleek and super easy to operate. I'd recommend it. You pay about $30 extra for the SONY name, but IMO it's worth it.

4K movies are just awesome great picture and sound. Movies load fast and this unit is very quiet. And being a SONY it should last like other Sony products we have had.

When i purchases this it was the only player that had Dolby Vision available for Sony TV's. It is a beautiful picture that i recommend, and the x900f TV to go with it.

Watching a 4K movie on a decent compatible TV is nice. But when you watch a 4K movie with HDR and Dolby Atmos, well now you are really in for a treat. The picture quality is is amazing and the colors are very vibrant, it just makes everything look so much better than watching a 4K movie on other 4K players. This Sony is an awesome player with all the usual built in apps like Netflix and so on. The player will upscale movies that are not in 4K to 4K kind of. If you watch a movie in 4K that was actually filmed in 4K like the latest Mission Impossible movie was you will see what i'm writing about. Please ensure that you are using the proper HDMI cable for 4K when connecting to your TV (THEY ARE NOT ALL THE SAME) use a 4K compatible HDMI cable or you not be receiving a 4K signal to your TV.

Though possessing some technical memory losses, this Sony 4K Ultra HD DVD Player plays movies very well and, via the Remote, is full of other features, including the ability to readily access (if one already has these Steaming Services) Netflix, HULU, Prime Video, YouTube, and others, without switching any Input. The picture quality is excellent! BUT….there have been been instances during which I have had to unplug/re-plug the machine, because I could not get DVD access door to open, or because all memory for the Streaming Services had vanished. Bizarre!

I bought this to see what difference 4K dvd made. It’s outstanding the quality of pictures on my 4K tv. It was easy to setup and has a lot of streaming apps as well.

Excellent blue ray player. Easy to use and enhances picture quality. Good price point, too. Have always bought Sony products and they never let you down.

Player works just fine with discs & streaming. Comes loaded with all Apps basic & can add on. Now, I just need a 4k TV to see its true brilliance

This player finally deliver on Dolby Vision and has Dolby Atmos sound. A very good quality player with excellent sound and picture as you would exspect from Sony.

Great 4K player. Very easy to use. Works great with my existing amp and speakers. Great quality that you would expect from Sony.

Does everything it is supposed to very well. Great images and does a good job streaming. Nothing to fancy but is easy to operate and use.

It's beautiful! Works like a dream. Small, quiet and powerful! I love how the interface is fast, and works well with my X950G.

We purchased this to go along with our new 65” TV and the design is perfect. The blue ray options and remote are extremely simple and the picture is exceptional.

Does everything I expected. Easy to connect, easy to operate and provides great video and audio. Good price for what it does.

I bought this to replace a LG that was a piece of junk. So far it has performed fabulous great picture, and no issues with it playing 4K, Blu-ray, or DVD’s.

Have been enjoying this TV which was a birthday gift from our son. The picture is very good and is very easy to understand and operate all the various features.

We chose this player because it was a good price but also good quality. And has met all of our expectations forward to watching many movies in the years to come.
