This player is solid and I suspect will be a great solution for the average Joe. Set up is easy and the picture is good. However, this player does not auto detect Dolby Vision so you have to turn it on manually in the menu, Then turn it off if a movie is normal HDR. This become annoying especially if you have steel book release 4k disc and it doesn't show what type of HDR it uses in the back. You then have to google it online. I wound up picking up a Panasonic DP-UB820-K which is worth the extra money as the picture is stunning and it auto switches to Dolby Vision. I demoted the Sony to bedroom duty.

Picture looks great. I mainly was looking for something that supported dolby vision. Works great, even has streaming apps. Give it a look.

This is a great 4K DVD player. It also has a very low profile and fits perfectly in an area with limited space. Definitely recommended.

I need to clarify that this is a good review. I have enjoyed SONY's 4K UltraHD player. It is simple to set up and operate. The images look pristine and the audio is amazing. My problem is not with the gear, but with 4K itself. I can try to kid myself all I want but, at the end of the day, I can't distinguish the difference between this format and Blu-Ray. I've tried. I bought the special 4K-cable to connect the player. I configured my 4K TV to get the most out of it. The only subtle differences I perceive are with HDR but not in terms of resolution. Maybe is my tired eyes. Here's the recommendation, if you can see the difference, this player is easy and does the job, if you don't...

I’m really impressed with Bluetooth DVD player it very compact taking up very little room. The quality of the dvds are more vivid with true to life colors.

This Player coordinates beautifully with a Sony TV and Amplifier/Speakers. As a senior citizen, I appreciate all the complex features of these electronics but I especially appreciate that they work WITHOUT certain features (like internet capabilities) that I do not care about. I just wanted a better-than-average TV with DVD player and great sound...and I got it. Also, hooray for HDMI connections...less confusion and much less wire everywhere.

I originally purchased the Sony UPB-X800 which was supposed to be the better unit but I kept having problems with the Wi-Fi. I kept having to run through the Wi-Fi set up every time I turned the unit back on. I returned it and replaced it with another UPB-X800 and it had the same problem. I returned that one a second time and got the UPB-X700 instead. Not only was it $50 cheaper it didn't lose it's Wi-Fi connection when turning the unit off and back on the way the UPB-X800 did. I could tell no difference in picture/sound quality between the two and unlike the UPB-X800 the smaller UPB-X700 fits nicely underneath my Sony XBR55X800E TV's stand leaving me room for a center speaker on the second shelf.

This 4k blu-ray player works great with my 4k Q Samsung TV, great picture, couldn't go wrong for the price!!!!! :)

Hooked up with my new LG OLED T.V. Easy to hook up and use. Bought Planet Earth and Blue Planet on 4K HD Blu Ray. Booted up right away without that annoying 30-40 second delay. Wow, what a picture!!! Any water / wave scenes have a beautiful almost 3D look. Wondered what difference the 4K picture would be like. Wonder no more, it's awesome. Have read some reviews saying it would stop working half way through a movie. I have not experienced anything like this as of yet and would gladly recommend this 4K player.
