Great for connecting multiple hdds thru USB
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It works with a USB hub with multiple 8TB HDDs plugged into it. It reads Exfat, not NTFS. I didn't test Fat32. Great for streaming local files. When a file is highlighted click options and you can select repeat setting to be off, all, folder or file (same as one). It plays older .mov files too (Roku doesn't). Great player!

Finally, a 4K UHD Blu-ray player of my very own!
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. When I purchased a new 4K UHD TV I wanted a Blu-ray player that could take advantage of the higher resolution. I picked this Sony, and it's a great little player. Really captures the picture quality of my UHD digital videos. And the standard Blu-ray discs look pretty good when I play them on it, too!

Great Blue Ray Upgrade
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Excellent product for it's features! Easy to setup and it has majority of the features you'd need. After several reviews and comparisons w other brands/models, I picked this one... my friend who is also into multimedia/home entertainment said he picked the same exact model (unknown to me...).

First time having a Blu-Ray and its great!
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is the first time having a blu-ray player and i like the picture that it gives. Didn't realize what a difference the picture it gives opposed to the old school dvd players have. And most of all, what i like about this player is i'm able to stream and not have to use my phone with the chrome attached to my tv anymore! Love it!

Best Sony Blu-ray Player to Date
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. As an early adopter of the Blu-ray medium, I have had maybe six or so different players over the past 13ish years. I've had Panasonic, Samsung, and Sony models. Sony has always been my jam, but admittedly I have been a little bit underwhelmed with a couple of my recent Sony purchases if for no other reason than they seem to have buggy operating systems. Playback has never been a problem. This Blu-ray player seems to have resolved Sony's lackluster operating system issue(s), and I couldn't be more pleased with a player than I am with the UBPX700. Fast loading times, fast boot, and snappy navigation are all really nice treats that make the 4K experience all that much more enjoyable. For those who are really into streaming content, this Blu-ray player will deliver on that front as well. Highly, highly, highly recommend — especially at this price (sub-$200).

A Fine-Quality 4K Player
||Posted . Owned for 9 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is the first 4K player I've ever owned, so I don't have any other experience with 4K players to compare it with. I'll just say it has always worked well for me, with no glitches or technical problems, in the time since I purchased it. I don't use the Wi-Fi functionality on it, though.

Full Featured & Future Proof 4K
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Upon receiving the Sony UBP-X700 I was first surprised by the size of the box. This is a smaller player measuring 12.6 by 8.5 inches and weighing in at 3.1 pounds. Inside the box one finds the player, a remote control, batteries and the usual manuals. Unfortunately there is no HDMI cable included. Regardless of size the specifications reveal a full featured 4K Blu-ray player. First of all this baby supports nearly every imaginable disc, video and audio format that there is. Most notable for video you get HDR10 and Dolby Vision support and for audio the player supports Dolby Atmos and DTS:X. You can’t beat that. With the UBP-X700 you’re not only future proof with these state of the art features, you’re also covered for your older discs because this player is of course backward compatible with regular DVDs and Blu-ray. It also breathes new life into your older 1080p content by upscaling it to 4K. Plus it does 3D, Miracast, and includes an arsenal of streaming apps. With all this in mind I was looking forward to seeing the player in action. I tend to not read setup instructions so I forged ahead by hooking it up to my TV and powering it on. Please note there are two HDMI out ports on the rear of the unit. One port supports video and audio while the second port is only for audio. I was happy to discover that the UBP-X700 has an onscreen setup which first prompts you to enter your Wi-Fi password so it can connect to the internet. You can also connect the player via ethernet cable to the port on the rear. After connecting Wi-Fi the setup then checked for any updates. It downloaded and installed them quickly and I was up and running. I first turned my attention to the menu of streaming apps. I was happy to find the most important ones present including Amazon, YouTube, Netflix, Vudu, Hulu, and Crackle. For audio streaming you also get Pandora, Spotify, and Sirius XM. I’m hopeful that other apps are added in the future. I next ran the player through its paces with some 4K streams from both Amazon and YouTube. The 4K video was incredible with absolutely no lag or stutter. The player helps matters here by supporting MIMO Wi-Fi technology. I next had to try a 4K UltraHD Blu-ray. I thought Mad Max Fury Road would be a great test disc. I was not disappointed. I had viewed this movie many times but now it was new again. The UBP-X700 made my HDR compatible TV look better than I had previously ever experienced. With HDR my TV's contrast ratio and color reproduction were astonishingly more realistic. I was sold. My TV unfortunately doesn’t support Dolby Vision and my audio equipment doesn’t support Dolby Atmos. No doubt these would take the 4K viewing experience to even a more incredible level. I can’t say that I’m too upset about this player giving me a great excuse to upgrade my other home theater components. I can’t say I have any complaints about the player. I would have liked an HDMI cable to be included and perhaps a nicer remote but in terms of overall quality the Sony UBP-X700 is a solid full featured 4K Blu-ray player. Highly recommended.

Super piece of movie viewing equipment.
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We use this DVD player almost every week for a movie and couldn't be more pleased with the picture and sound. We needed a Blu-Ray since most of the Netflix movies we watch are Blu-Ray but occasionally we get a non-Blu-Ray movie and this player enhances the quality and picture of the non-Blu-Ray movie.
