My last UHD player, a Samsung, worked for about 4 years. This one I've had about 10 months and I've thought multiple times about upgrading to something else. As soon as it completely breaks down, I'll have no other choice, which will at least free me to buy another and avoid any more Sony players. Discs freeze intermittently, and this is not an issue with one specific Blu-ray disc, but many. It doesn't seem to occur as often with UHD discs, but nearly every Blu-ray I've tried has at least one instance of 4-8 second pausing. These are brand new discs from a variety of manufacturers. While the picture looks great, that only helps if the movies play all the way through. I never had such a problem with my Samsung player--it just went dead after 4 years. My other primary use of the player is not for streaming, but USB connection to watch an external drive, like a flash drive. The menus are terrible, which is annoying since it feels like a downgrade after the superior menu settings on the Samsung player. But that's the same as a PS4, so I didn't let it slow me down. What is frustrating is that this device will get lost "searching" or indexing a large hard drive and never pull up the programs available. Switch to another drive, same fails, maybe it will work, maybe it won't. My streaming experience is rather limited with this device. It offers about a dozen apps and doesn't seem to have the capacity to accept others. I would rather use my TV for streaming since it seems to work better on this front. For a UHD player bought in 2020, it's really mind-boggling how out-of-date it already seems. I went to the YouTube app to try to enter a specific address for content I had bought, but the option is not there, though maybe it would have offered something if I had gone through the sign-in process. Why bother? Easier to just load it up on my laptop and broadcast to the TV. This product is so much cheaper than anything else I own, and it wasn't all that cheap when I paid for it. What happened to Sony? Five years ago I assumed they were the gold standard for all other electronics. Nobody can stay on top forever, sure, but they seem to have sold off their good name for quickie cash-ins like this terrible UHD player. Even the power cable looks like one that would come with a cheap speaker. The tech giant that oversaw the creation and domination of the Blu-ray disc is now nothing but a sticker name for inferior electronics while they put all their money into PS5s. Hard to believe a giant like Sony could be reduced to this.

Upgrade from my previous model of Sony Blu-ray player. Now able to play 4K ultra HD videos. Same functions, so easy to plug & play from my other unit. Pleased with this unit and streaming other online apps.

Really good player. I replaced my samsung and i dont regret it. I a bit more to pay but I waited for it to go on sale. Super clear, upscales resolution. Only downside is the limited amount of apps.

My Samsung TV remote controls this player with no problems whatsoever eliminating the use of 2 remotes. The sound quality is phenomenal, and tbe apps help eliminate the use of a cable box or another streaming device.

Sony is my first choice for blu-ray players and audio products in general. I was looking for a BR player with support for ARC so we could connect a 5.1 soundbar and this is perfect. Audio and picture quality is great even in non 4k tvs.

I wanted a 4k dvd player for my new OLEG tv. This works fine. Also has Dolby sound. It does not have an LED video counter display screen, but the remote has a button. Not much of a trade off. Quiet operation.

This is a great Blu-ray and Sacd player. There are a lot of customizable parameters and the sound and video output are great when comparing to 2 year ago offerings and I would recommend to anyone especially if you play or may want to check out SACD's.

in the past i used a PS3 to play blu ray movies and watch on my 1080p led tv. watching an ultra 4K blu ray disc with this thing, displayed on a samsung 4k tv is mesmerizing. you have to see it. the functionality of the remote is good as well.

AWESOME PICTURE!!!! Connects perfect with my Sony TV and receiver!!! Connected immediately like it was meant to be. Highly recommend this product, especially at the sale price that I bought it for!!!

Overall i am pleased with my purchase. I have only watched a couple of movies so far as this is the second weekend to won my new tv and blu-ray player. Did i mention 4k, well it is pretty awesome.

Purchased this based on reviews and price. Especially the ability to play SACD. A plus at this price point for audiophiles. Have not tested this feature yet but all else works great. Fast load times and an intuitive interface. Would have given 5 stars but the remote is very small and is not backlit.

I received this as a present during Christmas of 2019. It was on sale for $129. I must say the player plays fantastic, no issues, no glitches and it supports Dolby Vision. It only has HDMI outlets, but that’s all I need.

I found this Blu Ray player on sale to replace an old DVD player. Wow what an improvement even on standard DVDs. Good product for the regular price but if you find it on sale you shouldn’t pass it up.

Can’t go wrong here. It just does what they say it does. The separate audio output is genius. If you’re not investing in an Atmos sound system just yet, and who is? the separate HDMI port lets you connect to your existing audio. Controls are simple and if your smart tv is up to the task, and whose isn’t? you can control some functions through the TV remote. PS. Make sure you’re buying the x-700, the 800 is the older model and does not have the Dolby Vision upgrade (over the internet) and the built in WiFi is a big plus.

I bought this player, to go with my TCL ROKU TV that I also purchased. It was easy to set up, and seems to work well; so far. I haven't used all of the features yet, but I intend to. I'm happy with the purchase.

We upgraded from a BDP6700 Sony bluray player that performed well. But we wanted to get the full performance of the 4K UHD tv. This was a definitive picture improvement, the clarity and crispness was worth it.

This player works well and is compact so it saves space which was one of the main reasons I picked it. Relative Low price point was an added bonus. The smart hub functions are nice too

I think paying 200+ for a 4K player is absurd and wouldn’t normally do it. But I got this on Black Friday for 130 so I took the bait. I love it! It does it’s job but combined with my lg oled c8 4K movies truly are amazing. I’ve been missing out

Bought this because it has Dolby Vision, seems that it is working perfectly. It is a lot lighter than Sony's older model upb-x800 but that one locks up occasionally. No lockups on the upb-x700 as of yet. Purchased on sale for a very good price

Smooth, slick, lightweight device I love it. It comes with a nice small remote control. Easy to read the remote is very easy to use . The dvd easily plays my Blu-rays, music cds, and my old dvds.
