Easy to hook up and works great no problems at all

It's a basic style. We had purchased our original one with Best Buy and it stopped playing DVD's. It was a couple months before the extended warranty ended. We stopped in Best Buy and it was the best experience and a smooth process. As the players have changed the associates were very helpful explaining everything to us.

My 10 year old Samsung Blu-ray just stopped recognizing it even had a DVD in it. Lights but no action. In comes this entry-level Sony Blu-ray and it surpasses the old Samsung in every way, Plus it was fast in the start-up of any DVD, 10X faster IMHO. Buy it, you will be impressed/

Ok- so, one of the big sales pitches about this is that it has streaming options - it requires a wired connection & due to my set-up I've not tried that so cannot review it. The DVDs & BluRays I've played have worked, but the eject & loads seem to take a little time & the machine sometimes plays a little game of maybe not ejecting or turning of or on the first few times the unit buttons or remote control is used to issue these basic function commands when the remote clearly works well enough for each other thing, batteries working fine, etc., and the buttons on the machine don't work consistently either- sometimes the device responds quickly by them & others, take about a shrug & a deep sigh & then, "oh I guess it decided to work after all." Kinda of thing. Weird. But yeah- maybe it that amount of time I reconsider whether I don't just want to use my Roku instead & stream something wirelessly that way since it's much less convenient for me to re-wire my internet set-up so I am stream it through this device - kinda silly.

I purchased the Blu-ray to play the many music and photo DVDs, music CDs and that I own. We transferred all out tapes to CDs and DVDs and our slides on to discs. The sound is fantastic. The tech who installed gave explicit instructions on how to use it.

very compact & simple to install; totally digital....would have liked to have additional analog hook-up capability to work off my old analog stereo receiver. price and shipment were excellent - exceeded my expectations. hope to not ever need the Geek Squad for any issues with this dvd player
