Shut down entire system when playing new CD. Had to unplug and re-plug. Tried YouTube. Shut down entire system, black screen appeared while playing. Returned Player for another. The exact same thing happened. Ugh. Why 3000 5-star reviews? Must be paid reviews. This one, too, is going back.

Completely non responsive. Best Buy was great swapped it for a new one. Hopefully the new one will have a longer life.

Posted .Hi JonD717, we apologize for the confusion this may have caused you. The BDP-S1700 doesn't have WiFi feature. You may try BDP-S3700 or BDP-S6700 instead. Those models are WiFi capable. Thanks for sharing your feedback. Regards, ^Ron

Didn't plug it in for a couple of months so I cannot return it, but will do the next best thing by tossing it into my local landfill.

Upon hookup via hdmi, unit would glitch out at random intervals when playing any blu ray or dvd. Image would shake all the pixels, freeze on a pink screen, then flash and go back to playing normally. Thought I got a defective unit. Returned and exchanged for another new unit. Same exact issue. Checked hdmi cable against other hdmi sources (i.e. Roku Ultra) and the cable was fine. Ended up getting a store credit towards a LG unit that worked perfectly with same hdmi cable.

After they left I realized they took the product manual. I could not look up any instructions to answer any questions I still had. Went to Best buy and they showed no courtesy in replacing it. Tried to tell me products no longer contain instruction manuals. No satisfaction ! I had tipped them also like a fool!

Open Box did not work this time around

I had no issues with other open box items from Best Buy. From the start, the BluRay player was very loud from the disc turning. I had to turn the volume to compensate the noise. Eventually got glitchy where I had to return it. I bought this with the Geek Squad warranty. They refunded it and gave me store credit. Used that to buy a new Sony BDP. Would recommend the player but not as an open box product.

This arrived brand new in the box with no apparent damage. I hooked it up and then powered up the unit. When trying to open the disc feeding door to load a disc, it would not open. You can hear the motor trying to open the door and eject the tray, but it will not slide out even if you hold the door open manually. It is going back to Best Buy today.

Owned for 5 months when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.after having a sony dvd player for 7 years i expected the same great quality. this one is junk! not even 4 months into it and it stopped reading any discs put in (bluray, dvd, cd, ect..) sony was no help at troubleshooting and updates didnt fix the issue. had to ditch it for an LG. do NOT recommend
