Unit plays multiple formats of data and can be connected to your network. It requires a few cables not supplied but once hooked up does it's intended job for me well.

I got this player about 3 wks. ago. Bought same day when I got Yamaha HT system. The player was easy to set up. Plays standerd dvds showing close to bluray quality. Gave it 4 stars only because not wifi built in, but I knew this when purchased. Great small footprint and very satisfied.

What i am going to say in this review is all true about this Blu Ray player and don't make the same mistake i did and buy it.I narrowed my search down to three Blu Ray players and this was my #1 choice.Now i did read the reviews on all three and there were several reviews for this player that stated while playing a DVD the movie would stop several times while watching.So today i bought this unit hooked it up and around 6 pm i put in Return Of The Jedi for my wife to watch and within 40 min of her watching the movie this player stopped 27 times she counted them as the unit stopped and each time the picture would go away for about 2-3 seconds with no sound and then resume playing.So i wanted to see this myself and in less then 2 min as i watched it did it 3 more times so at that point i realized those reviews i read about this problem were all true.So I disconnected the unit and drove back to Best Buy and exchanged it for another brand put the movie back in and she finished it without any issues.What disturbs me the most about this issue is it is made by Sony one of the top names in the field and to read about this issue and then for my wife to see it 27 times and then myself another 3 times is the reason why i am writing this negative review to explain to others to stay clear of this Blu Ray.There were 4 units on the shelve when i went in the store to look and 2 of them had open box marked on them so that was a sign they must have been bought and returned for the same issue i was having.I wanted to replace my older Blu Ray in our bedroom with a cheaper player that was more current but as it turned out it was a nightmare.Hope this helps those that are thinking about this one.

This blue ray is inexpensive and provides all that is needed---a quality picture and simple operation. It is an integral part of my video system that lets me use my favorite DVD's!

I needed a DVD player. I bought a Smart DVD. The sale person was knowledgeable and very helpful.

Great easy to use Blu-ray DVD disc player. Has a USB port for playing USB devices. Great price and easy pickup.

I like this item a lot. My dream is to have sony create a player with a "Repeat-all" feature.

This DVD player does everything we would expect. It is a basic player.

Features for BDPS1700 lists DLNA as a feature. This unit does not support DLNA. This unit also doesn't support wifi. If you want these features consider the BDPS3700.

Device works fine. Replaced and identical one that failed after a few years. Sad that streaming options are fewer on this newer version. No longer includes streaming option for Amazon Prime video service. Several others are gone as well.
