First unit worked fine for a week and then would not turn on. Second unit worked fine for over a year, then would not turn on unless I spent 20 minutes unplugging and replugging. Had two year protection plan and got a replacement from Best Buy. Tried setting up the replacement unit and it will not turn on. Called SONY for help and they were completely unhelpful. Advised me to return it to the store. Bringing it back for a refund.

I bought the same one a year ago and the year old one just just broke. I can't return it because I didn't save the box. spend a extra and buy a different one.

I'd a similar experience with my previous player, a different model, which gave up in a similar manner, but after six years' service. My experience with Sony's cameras and other gadgets has been excellent. So I've no idea why this one was such a dud.

The next time I used it, I couldn't get the remote control to do anything. I replaced the batteries and it still didn't work. I am stuck with a DVD player I can't use because it has been over 30 days since I bought it.
