    Purchased this as an upgrade from an older Samsung blue-ray player...I wish I had stuck with Samsung! To be honest...this is the worst experience with a piece of technology I have ever had. The blue-ray player freezes almost every night, and when iit does, it kicks me out of all of the apps and I have to log in all over again. It's gotten so bad that I have had to go online with several accounts and "deactivate" the device because it was on there seven or eight times! There are also times when it will work fine, but the next day I turn it on, it will be logged out of all the apps again. I have to re-connect it to my wireless almost every day. I have a smart TV in another room that never has any issue - I can stream all day in any app without complaint. Previous blue-ray player had no problems streaming or staying connected either. I am really disappointed with this purchase and do not recommend this product. It is incredibly frustrating!

    It started off great but after a month stopped playing new dvds old dvds and anything really had to buy replacement bc I didn’t get the geek squad protection when I first bought it. Lesson learned I now have geek squad on my new obe

    Poor quality control

    I just had my second purchase of this item fail. The first one lasted about 19 months. Symptoms: Turned on power - power light came on - nothing worked, unit froze and would not respond to front panel buttons or remote. Unplugged unit power - light went out - plugged unit in again power light came on - still frozen. Had to open case to rescue my disc. Bought the same model again - less than 2 months later, same issue with new unit. No need for disc rescue this time, just powered on unit to insert disc - Frozen. The steps listed on Sony's website are completely ridiculous - trying to hold down multiple buttons on the remote and unit at the same time is just stupid. To Sony: just because a unit is inexpensive does not mean it has to be poorly engineered or built. Some of us are just struggling to get by and cannot afford more expensive items. It is sad that you would even release this onto the market. FYI: I did not buy the units at Best Buy, no local store. The other retailer chose to not post my negative review, I hope this does not happen here.

    Sony sucks

    Ha, after 3 months of use this player got stuck powered on forever but unresponsive. It does not show up in the TV input list, and it's not responding to any input from remote or manually pressing buttons on the player. I've unplugged it for minutes, hours. But whenever I plug it back in, it's stuck in powered on light but unresponsive. Is there no factory reset button anywhere? It seems like the software is stuck in a bad state, so would be nice to have a way to get out of this. Absolute poop product. Go for Samsung, they have a better QA.

    Bought this unit and another one At the same time. This unit started making a loud vibrating humming sound when playing and then the movies started skipping and pausing to where you are unable to watch the movie. The other unit is making the same loud humming but is still working but the noise is soo loud that watching a movie at a normal volume is difficult. I am loyal to Sony but this is disappointing.

    Plays DVD well. Apps fail.

    As a DVD player, it does well. Remote is too small & unlit making it hard to use in a dimly lit or dark room. Most annoying is when the player consistently locks up "loading" application data. The only way to recover is to unplug the 12 volt power. Poor design. Network access needs hardwire connection as wireless connectivity fails to complete. Disappointing as other Sony products excel. This one fails.

    Cheaper Blue ray

    I searched for a cheaper blue ray and now on my second one BUT I have to unplug and plug it back in for it to turn back on. If I use it more it works but if it sets for more then 24 hours it freezes up. My first one got fried and again this one was cheaper or I would have got it again! Thumbs down

    Did not work at all. Could not get any disc to play. Last disc got stuck in DVD player and I had to break it open to get my disc out. Garbage. Would not recommend. I wound up throwing the unit in the trash.

    We don't watch DVD's very often, but wanted a DVD player for our legacy discs. We've watched maybe 5 or 6 movies since we got this as a gift last year. The last time I used it, it just froze at the boot screen and wouldn't shut off or open the drive. I had to take it apart to get our disc out, which luckily only required a few screws and clips, but what a pain! I wish there was a high quality "dumb" blu-ray player out there with more money going to solid reliable hardware.
