Geek Squad Fail
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Obviously not looked at by a Geek Squad employee. Disc drive wouldn’t open. I had to disassemble the unit myself to fix it. I would avoid all refurbished purchases.

And the drawer locked up and I got the message "Eject is currently unavailable. To enable cancel child lock mode." I followed directions and nothing worked. I called Sony support twice, nothing they suggested worked. For weeks I have been unable to use the unit. I tried to upload an upgrade to the operating system from Sony Support using a thumb drive. That didn't work. Warning: you get what you pay for.

Posted .Hello Mark7, thank you for your message. While the player is turned on, press STOP, HOME, and then TOP MENU button on the remote to lock or unlock the tray. Oscar.
Damaged in less than a month

It worked just for 3 weeks, then Blue-Ray logo was stuck in the screen. Im not longer in the area so I couldnt return it; so, I took it to a Sony authorized repair center and they told me the mother board was damaged, and it was not worthy to fix it because it was going to be more expensive than buy it new. DO NOT BUY this item. S/N: 2051819

Cheaply made product
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased my first Sony Blu-ray 2/11/17. It stopped working 2/24/17. Filed a claim same day. I was sent a replacement which was received 3/2017. The replacement stopped working 4/4/17. I requested a refund, was told that's not an option, but that they will replace the replacement.

Stopped working after 8 months
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Stopped working completely one day after about 8 months. DOA. Only used the disc function for 1-2 discs a week maybe. An old Sony DVD player I have had for 15 years still works! Switching manuf's.

Picture flickers and bars roll up the screen. New DVDs, old, and new Blu rays were tried. Same poor results from all media types.
