So far we really like this DVD player. Good product for the money.

I like the DVD player but the issue I have is that the default setting was for wired and I could not change it to wireless.

I wanted a player that didn't require me to read instructions to just play a disc. This suits my needs perfectly. Plug n play in a disc player. Great!!

The Sony BDPS 1700 Streaming Blu-Ray Player is alright but doesn't play all DVD's. We have some that are Blu-Ray and some are not. Not all the none Blu-Ray DVD's play; the sound will distort or it will become erratic. For the price it is a good DVD player. Nice to look at and fits in the TV stand nicely. Best Buy is the only store we will shop at for electronics, tried others but they came up lacking.

When the Blu Ray player worked, it worked pretty well. It streamed nicely and played discs well. Within a week or week and a half from when I purchased it, it began to power up inconsistently. I would push the power button and nothing would happen. If I unplugged it and then plugged it back in, most of the time, it would start. Then, it rattled so loudly when it played a disc, you could hear the rattle in the next room. I returned it and swapped the first unit for a second one. The second one made it a couple of days before it began powering up inconsistently. I thought I had it figured out - simply unplug it between each use...but that only worked for about 5 times. Then it became a game of repeatedly unplugging it and plugging it back in. After less than 2 weeks, I gave up and returned it. This was very disappointing.

The blueray player works great! It's small enough to fit right on your television stand.

Replaced an old Blue Ray player which finally broke down due to kids. The Sony is a good quality, compact, blue ray player. Fits my needs perfectly.

It does the job. Use on my outside patio television. Stream movies and television apps outside.

So y has always delivered. Picture and sound quality are excellent. Dont need to be an electrical engineer to set up.

The DVD player is versitile in that it plays both DVDs and Blu Ray. It's clear image resolution is excellent with high definition. It was easy to set up and it's size is compatible to ant entertainment space. It's additional feature of video streaming services is an added bonus. I would definitely recommend this product.

2/22/2025 I bought this Blu-Ray player as an open box item thinking it was a good value on a quality product, being a child of the 90s Sony meant quality. 3/22/2025 the machine suddenly seemed frozen. The screen was stuck on the "Blu-Ray" screen, the power button wouldn't respond to manual presses on the machine, the open DVD tray button was likewise disabled. I had the same issue with the remote - no response to any button presses. I began troubleshooting on my own with the help of AI to no avail. I reached out to Sony's chat support and the chaos began. The first attempt the rep disconnected with me before I received the email telling me where I could upload the proof of purchase. I had to waste another 30 minutes with customer support to get that email. 3/25/2025 Sony acknowledges proof of purchase 3/31/2025 Sony finally tells me where to send the frozen plastic junk - I ship it out same day (Sony's preferred Logistics method is Fedex ground) 4/7/2025 Sony receives the returned item 4/8/2025 Sony ships out my "of equal or greater" unit covered under their one year warranty. 5/2/2025 - AGAIN the Blu-Ray player is frozen - zero response to manual button presses or remote button presses. I spent an HOUR talking to Sony to again get the warranty process started. I have zero faith that if they send me this very same model again it will fail - quickly as the first two have. Their customer support is awful as we've come to expect in this day and age. Sony is not what I grew up with anymore, I'm sad to say.
