Unusual combination of services, works well

This Sony BDP-S3700 combination streaming device and Blue-Ray player is a very nice nice unit, combining the features of two services that usually each require their own piece of equipment and their own HDMI port on your TV. It is a Blu-Ray player and a streaming device. But streaming capabilities are limited to what’s available directly over the internet, like youtube and Fox News. If you want something like the Roku channel, you’ll still have to buy a Roku device, and if you want to stream something like Peacock, you’ll have to subscribe to a service, like Roku, that offers Peacock. Having said this, there are a number of available apps that might be enough for you. Included are more familiar services like Netflix, tubi, VUDU, TMZ, Fox News Channel, and Outdoor Life, music services like Pandora, Slacker Radio, and SiriuxXM, and some I’ve never heard of, like the Cult Movie Network, Hotlist Internet TV, EarthCam, and Cycle World. All in all, there are about 45 available apps. Setup is extremely easy. Just plug it in, connect the included HDMI cable to your TV, and turn it on. It takes you to the network setup page so you can log into your home wifi, and you’re off to the races. Put a Blue-Ray disc in, and you are immediately taken to the disc-playing menu. Blu-Ray players have been around for quite a while now, and this one works as well as any of them. But I suspect most users will be attracted to this unit because of the streaming features as there is much you can watch for free. Others programs within certain services will require a purchase. You can explore all of this. One of this unit’s nicest features is its size. It is very compact with the front face measuring only 9-inches wide by 1.5 inches high. It is about 7.5 inches deep. If you want a streaming service, there are many options out there. If you want a Blu-Ray player, there are many options available as well. But if you want both and don’t want to take up more than one HDMI port on your TV, this device might be just what you need. It’s price of well less than $100 just adds to its attractiveness.

This Sony Blu-Ray player has great picture quality (1080p) at a great price. It has built-in Wi-Fi (and also an Ethernet port) and access to most streaming services. It's easy to use and well constructed. The remote is easy enough to use but is pretty small just like the remotes from all the other budget players out there. Overall, if you don't need the ability to play 4k discs this player has everything you need and performs well.

I have not had a DVD player for a number of years after my prior one broke. I had just been using streaming services but since I do have a number of DVD titles that aren't on the services I have subscriptions to, this has been awesome. I just started re-watching The Sopranos and the Sony player works great even though my DVD set is over 20 years old. I will say though that the apps included are a little off-putting. Missing are Disney Plus, Hulu, and Amazon Prime Video. I get that Sony is in competition with these companies, but aren't they also in competition with Netflix, which is included? One of the apps is the Cult Movie Network, but when you launch it, there are zero titles. I was hoping that perhaps Rocky Horror Picture Show might have been on it. For the $79 price tag though, this is a fine player, I just think that if you're going to make it internet enabled and have apps, why not include the most popular ones, or at least allow apps to be installed by the user?

This Sony Blu-ray Disc player is a great product. I paired it with a new 4K TV in our basement. And it works smoothly. In fact, the Sony player has no problem connecting to our internet, but the TV did. With the Sony player we are able to now stream movies that we can’t with the TV. I love the size of this Disc player, it is compact and hardly noticeable. And the picture quality is phenomenal, and the included HDMI cable was far better than the one I purchased at a large box store. We took it camping this past weekend (thankfully - it rained all weekend) and we had no problem connecting to the campgrounds WiFi and again, we were able to watch HD movies, to the point we plan on purchasing another for that purpose. Sony makes quality products, and this one is no exception, it is one of the best Blu-ray players I have owned, get one, you won’t be sorry

Very Good overall, with a small-ish Remote Control

Very good player. Somewhat prone to vibration which is the only reason why I rate it as only 4/5 stars. Probably because it is so light, but that seems to be the case with other similar players. Works flawlessly with some older CDRWs which was not always the case on other products. CEC tested with an older Panasonic TV and worked well. Also tested the COAX digital output and streaming Netflix, Pandora, etc. The only flaw I see is the very small remote control with tiny buttons which is a little hard to use.

    Nice cord-cutting surprise.

TL;DR - Easy to install. Great picture. Love it. Cutting the cords. It's been years since we've owned a DVD player, but we're pretty sick of paying a ton of cash for bad programming, and this DVD player offered a nice opportunity. Since getting the player, we've canceled a service and (mostly) stopped renting content. We're saving a lot and that's really great. What's also great is that the picture and audio quality of the player is also great so we're saving money while increasing our experience. First things. Out of the box, the player was really easy to hook up to our television (a large 4k). Hooking it up to our our wireless was also a cinch. They have plenty of apps, that take advantage of wifi, most weren't interesting to us. They're exactly the sort of thing that we're moving away from. However, to each their own and you might find something there that's useful to you. Next, we put in a DVD from the 90s, Run, Lola, Run. The quality was good, better than we expected. Our TV is ginormous, the DVD is old, we figured that we'd get a lousy picture, but the film was great to see and the audio (which we love), was clear and just a pleasure (if you like that sort of music) to hear through our sound bar. Next, we went to our local library that HAS A TON OF DVD CONTENT, checked out their maximum, and brought home a selection of DVDs and blu-ray DVDs. Blu-rays, wow! Our television is 4k, but we've always depended on streaming and I think now that we've never gotten all the 4k information through our Internet Provider to really support how good the TV really is. The Blu-ray DVDs were intense, sharp, colorful, and magnificent! The upscalling for the regular DVDs was also quite good. Our viewing experience has improved. The main reason that we picked up this player was to cut out some expensive streaming subscriptions. We've been able to do that and the DVD player has paid for itself in under a month. For the price, the quality of the player is great. I'd buy this again in a heartbeat and I'd recommend it to anyone looking to cut down on their streaming subscriptions.

Pretty great but wasn't able to do wifi hotspot

I bought this for my mom since I redid her bedroom entertainment area following a TV upgrade ( BEFORE: picture a 30-year-old TV and converter box with DVD player connection). The upgrade now is new TV with DVD (she refused to give up the DVD player and that's understandable) and Blu-ray. This blu ray player will NOT recognize a phone as a wifi hotspot as an LG will. That's why it got 4 stars instead of 5. If you have a LAN it will work for you, if you have to use a phone as a hotspot to stream, keep looking!! Outline of pros and cons Pros: 1. Thin enough to work in small spaces. 2. Quick startup. 3. Energy mode (if energy saver mode is your thing). 4. Sharp picture. 5. Pretty easy-to-navigate menu. Cons: 1. Does NOT recognize phones (tested this with an iPhone not sure about androids) as Wifi hotspots

Budget Blu-Ray player with some streaming apps

If you're looking for a basic player to be able to play DVD's, Blu-Rays and even music CD's, this is the player for you. It even has some streaming apps (Netflix, Youtube, Vudu are among the best known). If shelf space in your entertainment center is limited, this player is only nine inches wide. It comes with an HDMI cable, so you don't have to purchase one separately. I tried this player with the following formats: DVD, Blu-Ray, music CD and even a home-burned DVD. All of the formats worked fine and I tried out the included Netflix app, which also performed as expected. The remote might be a little small for people with big hands, but it works fine and the button layout is pretty standard.

I did a lot of looking at other DVD/BluRay players and the Sony BDP-BX370 was the best I could find. Hooking it up to my TV was easy with just an HDMI cable to plug in. No need for RCA jacks. And it has Wi-Fi which connected real easy too. The playback is the best I have seen on a DVD player. This was money well spent. Thanks Sony for a great product and thanks BestBuy for a great price.

This Sony Blu-ray player is very compact. I like the small size. It functions well both as a dvd player and for access to Netflix, YouTube and other online media platforms - which can be added to favorites for easy access. Setup was easy and came with clear instructions. I would deduct one star because there seems to be a slight delay between when a button is pushed on the remote to when the item loads - BUT... they included an HDMI cable, so I added the star back. Overall this dvd player works well.

It plays my Blu-ray disks just fine which is great... but I got it because of the smart tv features... specifically for the screen mirroring feature because my older tv doesn't have screen mirroring. Unfortunately the screen mirror feature doesn't work very well... it's jerky and stutters and skips and one time it froze up on me completely. Even with my phone sitting less than 3 feet from the player, or 3 foot away from my Wi-fi router. I also don't like the remote control. First it doesn't light up, and 2nd it has to have a clear line of sight to the player to work. I found that I had to hold it up and the air and point it downwards to make it work over the edge of the coffee table. I don't need to do that with the remotes to my other electronics in my TV stand. Lastly it didn't remember where I was at on a disk if I stopped and turned it off. After I turned it back on the next day it started 2 out of 3 disks back at the beginning, and only once did it resume play where I stopped it at. Over all though it does play Blu-rays just fine, I like how small it is, and I like that it runs off of a 12 volt power brick, which means I can hook it up relatively easily to play on the screen in my truck. The rest of the apps included on this player seemed to work just fine. I would recommend this player if all you need is a Blu-ray player, or you want to add some of the popular apps to your TV... Maybe the screen mirror thing will get better in the future with a firmware update.
