I have had issues with this player since the day I bought it. It will frequently freeze about 2 hours into most of the 4K discs I have watched and I have to eject the disc, wait a few minutes, and put it back in to resume my movie. And even then, there is no guarantee that it will work. I tried to watch Blade Runner 2049 recently and towards the climax of the movie, the disc froze and I eventually had to give up and watch the digital version to finish. I've tried contacting Sony about this more times than I can remember and even after getting a replacement unit, I still have this issue. Sony customer support has been useless in finding a solution to this issue. If you're thinking about buying this unit, don't. Pay a little bit extra for a better player and save yourself the frustration that I've gone through.

Great addition to my theatre. Seamless operation and interface to 65" Sony OLED TV. With upconverting even old DVDs look great on my 4K screen.

It’s fine I guess but don’t buy it if you do a lot of importing. I was excited to get a brand name region free player, but it can’t convert 50hz or pal so I can’t play any UK import films even the multi region ones. Very disappointed for $260

Good performance but not out of this world. Could be better.

This Sony dvd player is bad. It keeps dropping out movie and sound snd then comes back on while playing any dvd.

The 4K quality makes a big difference in the picture

I cant believe it doesnt have bluetooth! Spent a decent amount of time and noticed it DOES NOT have bluetooth…. Build quality is good tho, and UI is smooth.

Purchased as a Christmas present for a relative. It was the specific model they wanted and had all the features. It's a great 4K player

Bought this to replaced an old PS3 because it will not play 4k movies. The price is good but it is a little slow and after you "unpause" a movie it takes forever to play, so I end up ejecting the disc and insert it again to resume it faster.

Locked up the first few movies I watched. seems to self healed on that but if I watch several movies the sound starts skipping. A little loud at times too.

Quality for playing music cds not as good as I excepted. But overall for the price it does the job. Would recommend if you’re not into perfect high quality.

It’s great when it’s working, but it freezes randomly and you have to pull the power to get it to reboot.

Awesome DVD player. Put in the first Harry Potter movie DVD from 2000 and the picture was amazing. It was sharp and detailed.

Easy to install. Simple to use. It works. Connects to Sony equipment. No worries with connection to Sony TV and stereo system.

Junk. Kept freezing. No amount of restarts or factory resets could get it to play through any movie entirely. Ruined more than a few movie nights with the family. Spend your money on another product.

Constantly freezing, skipping. Sony support was useless. It takes 3 resets and 10 tries to play any disc without it freezing instantly. I'd avoid this player. I've done every troubleshooting step recommend and no change

I can’t honestly review the product because it did not come with the HDMI cable. It says in the title and on the box that it is included. It is the M model. This was an open box product that was supposed to be in excellent condition. According to Best Buy it doesn’t matter if parts are missing because the excellent condition only means the actual product. They said I could bring it in to return it but it’s a 45 minute drive each way or i could send it back and after they get it they will send another. I truly do not understand why they can’t send me the cable. Obviously they do not care about customer care. This is not the first time buying an open box item was a huge mistake. I have definitely learned my lesson there. I feel better buying on eBay! I do not recommend ever buying open box from Best Buy!! I feel bad leaving this review because it is not the fault of Sony but I wanted people to know.

Disappointed- 4k DVD's stutter during playback. At least 2-3 times in every 4k DVD I've tried. Using an 8k HDMI cable, so I don't think that's the issue

An excellent DVD Blu-ray player and a great price. These are not easy to come buy but this one is definitely worth it!

Maybe the one I received was a lemon, but if you do a little searching you will find many people have issues with this and other Sony 4k blu-ray players. The one I received skipped on the first disc I tired which is apparently a wide known issue. Maybe you will be fine, but it’s not worth the risk.
