    Stops working in about 4 months. Got replacement after multiple calls to Sony. Replacement worked for about a month. Got second replacement. That's still working. Fingers crossed.

    Quality of the SONY Ultra Blue-Ray / DVD Player.

    This Blue-ray / DVD player is absolutely first rate !!!!! There is a trick however to using the volume control on the hand-held remote. It involves using the upper two "TV" control buttons on the remote AND one of the colored control buttons all together. Don't give up. JR Mayer

    Its only been 2 months, and now the reading arm will not go to the outer edge of the disk. all other functions are wonderful.

    Disappointing. Every 4K disc skipped or froze. Blu ray had no problem. the image quality, overall, was excellent.

    Had to return it, kept turning off my Sony Projector. Got the Sony model above this one and its been working perfect. Coud have just been a defect in that particular unit, not sure what was happening.

    Good player, but I returned it for the X800....didn't feel I was getting the best sound from it.

    Realized that Best Buy has listed this item, and I purchased this item for $59 above what I should've paid. It has very few streaming service options but gets the job done for discs.

    Freezes 100 minutes into every 4k movie. Since day one. I assumed it was disks but I didn’t have many 4k movies at the time. Now I’ve purchased many movies and it always has same issue. Tried all “fixes” from manufacturer and nothing works.

    Both of our TVs have Sony Blu-ray players set up with them. We use them on a daily basis to watch movies whether they are in our work out room or our living room. Sony delivers flawless performance and we are very happy with these products.

    When I started using this player, I found out that when you select any sub-menu within the top DVD menu (like subtitles, audio, etc), the list of choices is not selectable, and the only button on remote that works is "Home" which brings you back to loading the disk

    I had multiple issues with this Sony bluray player. When I was watching a movie it would just freeze for a bit then resume watching the movie, like the laser wasn't reading it correctly. This happened on different movies. Then it would auto-power off in like 15min. I could not find an option to turn auto power off. Stupid design not letting you change this option.

    Bought this in Jan. 2025 and by late Feb. (after the 14 day BB return period) I noticed the occasional freeze while watching. I put up with this until now, May. Now it won't play my discs at all. Will have to go through the hassle of Sony warranty service. :-(

    I'll admit, I had become THAT person. The one with shelves full of purchased Blu-Ray discs that sat gathering dust while I simply streamed movies when the urge to watch something came up. I'd rather stream a 4K movie than have to go grab that physical disk, thinking it was better quality (certainly it is, based on BR/DVD resolutions alone). Even though I had a few 4K discs in my collection, I didn't think there was much difference (and honestly, there wasn't- at least, not when I was using a game machine as my disc player). Then I had the opportunity to test this unit. I have to tell you- it is night and day. The HDR effects are SO much better when using the physical disc in this unit (when compared to my old setup of the game console, and especially so when compared to streamed content). Everything is so much smoother, which makes me feel that the frame rate is improved with the physical disc and/or the digital smoothing offered by this player, specifically. Even blu-ray movies, which are lower resolution than streamed 4K content and should be inferior on paper, are actually much more enjoyable- likely due to some fancy upscaling from the player. Audio is also much improved with this unit (Dolby Atmos is awesome!). I also had forgotten how much I enjoyed all of the extra features and menu options that come with using a physical disk, rather than streaming content. And, if you still do a lot of the latter, this player can be your one-stop-shop, as it does have access to all the usual suspects as far as streaming apps go, and all available in 4K (if your streaming app/sub supports it, of course). This can really simplify your A/V setup, particularly if you use a set-top box to access streaming services (I'm looking at you, Roku!). If I had a quibble- it is the lack of an RF remote. I keep my AV equipment in a closet with wiring behind the wall, which doesn't work with this current setup. I'm planning on getting an IR blaster that will use my phone as a remote, but the rest of my equipment is RF, so it would be great if this would allow that, as well. But, as I'm unaware of ANY physical disc players that offer that at the moment, that might just be something I have to live with. Overall, this is a great unit. It works with every disc I tried (including some old playoff hockey games I had burned to DVD-R years ago), was simple to hook up (including to wifi) and is quite compact. Once I can stow it away with the rest of my units, it will be perfect. I don't think you can go wrong with this one.

    Had the player for 2 days and the first 2 movies I played on it which I bought brand new at the same time both skipped in 2 different parts of the movie. I bought it on Black Friday and thought they would have let me trade it in for a different unit and still get the sale price, but they would not work with me....
