Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I’ve owned this player for 4 years. It plays blu rays really well. 4k movies is another story. Most will freeze at points of the movie. It’s very annoying and I’ve tried many tips (disc cleaning) due to off gassing and also made adjustments to player settings to no avail. I would say if you can spend a little more stay away from the Sony players and upgrade to Panasonic UB-820. That is my plan next year. 4k collecting is not a cheap hobby and it’s disappointing that majority of movies freeze on this player.

Player freezes in the middle of movies

The first movie I watched was the new Top Gun in 4k which was brand new. About 90 minutes into the movie the picture and sound froze. I figured it was the disk. The second movie we watched was the Matrix in 4k. Same issue at about 100 minutes into the movie. This disk was also brand new. So far we have encountered this problem on 5 movies. All of them were brand new 4k disks. I took the player back to best buy and exchanged it for the same model hoping it was just an issue with that player. I tried watching another brand new 4k movie last night on the new player and encountered the same problem. I will be returning the sony and upgrading to a different brand.

This one solved that problem in a hurry! Why, in heaven's name, would anyone want to watch a TV show on a 23" monitor when he has a 53" TV????
