    Cheaply made to fail

    I bought this unit about 18 months ago along with a new 4K TV. It was not an item I used every day, but I used it for movies with Dolby Vision. While watching one Blu-ray, the unit locked up and I had to take the top off to get the disc out. I needed to watch some movies with headphones on another Sony unit that had Bluetooth so I unplugged this one. The unit had sat unplugged for a couple of months and when I plugged it back it, it would not power up. Had the unit tested and power was going in to the plug but it was not getting into the unit to power it up so now I have a $250 dust collector. This unit it cheaply made to fail. The older Sony player is more durable and even when it was unplugged for a while, it still powered up. Avoid this model at all costs.

    3D stopped working after a few months

    After a few months the 3D feature stopped working and it would not play 3D discs anymore. Spend a little more and get a reliable player.

    Very Short Time of satisfaction

    Great player, worked for five months, sent it in to Sony on One Year Warranty. Received replacement unit, which worked for another 11 months....same glitch problem. But Sony One Year Warranty only covers from the date of ORIGINAL PURCHASE. So after spending over $200, and a lot of inconvenience, they told me to PUNT. I won't be buying another Sony product

    Buy a different brand

    Bought this thing a few years ago and it has always given me problems. Half the time, it simply won’t read Blu-ray’s and 4k discs. It just keeps saying “check to see if disc is in format”, etc. These are brand new movies that I buy. Save yourself the headache, buy a different brand. Worst product I’ve ever seen Sony push out. They need to discontinue making these. Total waste of money and time.

    Don't bother

    Caution to those looking to save some money on their 4k blu ray player. I've had many issues with this player freezing. Mostly with 100GB triple layer discs but many Disney distributed discs as well. Save yourself the headache and spend the extra coin on something else.

    I can’t really say because I had to get a 4k receiver and I didn’t want to I have everything just didn’t want to spend another 4-500 more so getting maverick blu ray instead of 4k

    I purchased this 4-5 months ago and just connected it to my TV. I've also been buy 4k movies to eventually watch. Now is that time but EVERY SINGLE DISC freezes at some point. I cant possibly have 49 defective discs. Stay away from this player!

    This player freezes during every single movie. Sony has 0 quality control. You have to memorize where your movie froze, restart the player several times and fast forward to where you left off. If it happened evenecru 5 or so movies I could deal with it. It happens atleast 1 time every single movie. Never buy Sony products of you don't want to be disappointed.

    I have bought five of these units over the last three years for my home and my kid's homes and they have all turned into bricks after I suspect a failed firmware update. Now using a Panasonic 4K blu-ray player.

    horrible product, worst customer service. I bought this and hardly used and now stopped working. unable to update the firmware and not able to use any of the apps.
