Budget Player, Poor built, Buggy

Since the player is mostly plastic material, it feel cheap even though I bought it during sale for $150. It does not connect to my 5G network but I suppose an easy fix if you have direct ethernet connection. Menu looks like something you would expect out of a Sanyo. My #1 issue (yep, I'm listing at the very end)... I often have to reboot the player for it to play any Blu-ray movie. 99% of the time, I just get a black screen and nothing plays. It works after rebooting. There is no software update available to find out if this is going to get fixed. Hence, I'm returning it.

UBP-X700 SONY

One in 2021 lasted 3 years because I didn't use it very often. Froze up, displayed black screen and just wouldn't play disks or stream. The second one was purchased on June 20 2024. Plugged it in and haven't used it till just a few days ago. It worked for a few minutes then same thing happened. taking it back.

Replaced older Samsung

Now I don't even see Samsung players anymore. So I bought the Sony. It is a bit smaller, which is a plus for limited shelf space under the TV. So far it is working fine.
