But, and this is probably not an issue with all of these players, I could not get the player to connect to my Wi-Fi system. After many attempts, I found that the network setting was hard set to wired only. There was no way I could change this, even trying to do a firmware update. My suspicion is that this open box unit was programmed to be a demo unit in the store. So, back it went and I moved on to another brand player.

I haven't set it up yet because I'm in the process of rearranging my apartment and haven't had time. If there's any problems with the unit, I'm covered by the 4-year protection plan.

Most people do not have their system set up in a room with direct access to a wired ethernet connection. This was the only player available at the store and the web site stated it was Wi-Fi compatable. There is no way to get firmware updates without this function. There is no excuse for making a product like this withour Wi-Fi connectivity!

The player couldn't play any DVD discs . It played all my MPEG4 movie files fine . It displayed all my jpeg photos with great detail . sad to see it coudn't play a standard disc let alone a 4K disc . I guess Sony doesn't have a quality control department

We understand your frustration with DVD navigation and screen settings. This is often resolved by adjusting a couple of settings: please go to the player's Setup menu and ensure the 4K Upscale Setting is set to Off or None for smoother DVD menu navigation. For screen stretching on older DVDs, try setting the DVD Aspect Ratio in the Screen Settings to Letterbox.
