Maybe I missed the directions, but Geek Squad helped me set it up. Is the rope just to carry it? And the 7" cable? What's that for?

To answer your specific questions:
The Rope: Yes, the integrated carrying strap is designed for portability, allowing you to easily hang the speaker or carry it securely.
The 7" Cable: This is a USB-C to USB-A cable used to charge the speaker's internal battery.
