Everything I could want out of a Bluetooth speaker
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I think this thing is pretty much just everything I could want out of a Bluetooth speaker other than maybe some input jacks of various types. The range is decent, I like how it's very responsive and doesn't need you to hold down on the buttons to wake it up and shut it off, and as someone who likes to listen to music in the shower I'm a *very* big fan of it being waterproof. The fact that it's salt-resistant for use on beaches is also really nice. The Sound Connect app adds some functionality, as well. The Battery Care feature is pretty nice to have, for one. I also like the DJ panel where you can make sound effects like record scratches or whatever. It feels really silly, but it also feels like exactly the kind of thing I would want to have on a Bluetooth speaker at a gathering. On a more serious note, you can adjust the equalizer if you're not a particularly big fan of the default settings (which are a bit bass-heavy). The battery life is pretty good. Even without enabling the "stamina" mode to reduce power consumption, I haven't had to charge this thing since I did a full charge when I unboxed it. The volume is also pretty good - it can't beat my sound bar, but it can definitely outmatch my TV itself in terms of loudness and sound quality. Though, I'm not sure that's actually saying much, since my TV isn't exactly top of the line. The point is, this thing can get very loud if you want it to, and it sounds good while doing it. I really like the carrying strap. Not only is it something I feel portable speakers should just have in general, the included one is pretty decent quality. It feels like the strap on my laptop bag, rather than the strap on a cheap duffel bag. Genuinely, I can't think of any negative comments to make on this. It's just... really nice, in general. I like it. I like it a lot. I'd have no hesitation about recommending this.

Sony did a great job enhancing the bass for this portable speaker. Battery life is not the best but definitely a step-up from older models
