It’s not all I would have hoped, I was hoping it would stay powered up if it’s plugged in and then would grab Bluetooth signal when in range

New upgraded line of Sony speakers, with the ULT 3 being in the middle of the series as far as size goes. The ULT 3 was clearly intended to be taken around, as the casing has built in strap connections for you to attach a shoulder strap. When the strap is not in use/unattached, the attachment points hide away flush into the body of the speaker.
Volume is plenty loud, but if you activate the ULT button the speaker automatically boosts the bass EQ. Battery life is rated for up to 24 hours, but only reaches 5 hours if using at maximum volume output. The speaker itself is rectangular, and can be stood in vertical or horizontal orientation depending on your needs. If you invest into the ULT sound ecosystem, one cool feature is Party Connect mode which daisy chains multiple ULT speakers to create stereo surround sound.
With its form factor, Sony foresaw its use as a beach/pool/camp speaker, and the ULT 3 has a robust
IP67 rating meaning it is dust-tight and can withstand submersion in water up to 1 meter deep for up to 30 minutes

Relying on the Sony name, I paid about $200 but found the sound quality is not that great. The extra bass button is kind of gimicky. Comes with a shoulder strap when an integrated handle would have been a better design.
Thanks for your honest feedback on the ULT FIELD 3 speaker. We're sorry to hear that the sound quality didn't meet your expectations and that you found some of the design choices disappointing.
Your comments about the bass feature and the strap are very valuable to us. We rely on feedback from our customers to understand what works and what doesn't, and we will certainly pass your insights along to our product development team for future designs.
Thanks for choosing Sony!
Sincerely, Jenn | Sony North America.

Good speaker- unfortunately doesn’t seem to party connect to older models.
We're honored to hear that you appreciate the SRS-ULT30 speaker. We apologize for the inconvenience regarding its Party Connect compatibility with older models. To help you get the best experience, here’s a list of speakers that work with the Party Connect function, including models like the SRS-XB23, SRS-XB33, ULT FIELD 3 (SRS-ULT30), and others.
Hi BenjaminC, Thanks for the feedback on your ULT FIELD 3. We really appreciate you taking the time to let us know how it's performing for you.
We're genuinely sorry to hear that the bass didn't hit the mark, especially since we know how important that punchy sound is when you're investing in a new speaker.
To get that deeper punch, try pressing the ULT button on the side of the speaker; it switches between two different bass modes that usually do the trick. If that still isn't enough, you can use the Sony | Music Center app on your phone to manually turn up the Clear Bass settings.
Thanks for considering Sony and sharing your feedback. Sincerely, Estefany

The Sony ULT Field 3 portable speaker is an excellent, versatile, go anywhere speaker. This is part of the new Sony ULT power sound series of speakers. The speakers in this series have an ULT button that enhances deep, low frequency base for a much bigger kick. This sounds great, without distorting the sound that I can hear.
This really is a great go anywhere speaker, it's especially perfect for the lake, kayaking, fishing, etc. It is ip67 water and dust proof, and it's even saltwater resistant, meaning it's great from the pool to the ocean Beach. The shoulder strap is great if you are using it for hiking or biking, as it makes it easy to keep close to your person and access, without getting in the way.
10 minutes of charging will give you at least 90 minutes of music, and on a full charge, the speaker will go for 24 hours. You can also run it while plugged in at home to ensure you always have a charge.
This is a sleek, stylish speaker with big enough sound for a large outdoor party, but quality enough sound for indoor use.
We apologize for the inconvenience you're experiencing with the bass and sound quality of your Sony SRS-ULT30.
To improve the bass quality of your Sony SRS-ULT30 speaker, we suggest adjusting the equalizer settings to your liking. You can find a step-by-step guide in this video: https://youtu.be/nUIF54cGkpI?si=nWp3wlyYZcxJGCkT.

I have been a Sony fan for 40+ years now and have always been pleased with their quality and innovation. I still use many older Sony devices around my home, including the portable SRS-X33 speaker which still sounds amazing. But anytime Sony offers up something new, I'm keen to check it out. I now own the new Sony ULT Field 3 portable speaker and as usual, Sony hits another one out of the park.
I chose the off-white colored unit and its dimensions are 10"W x 4.5"H x 3"D. It weighs about 2lbs, 10oz, so it's what I consider a mid range speaker, yet it's still quite portable. To help with the portability, Sony includes a shoulder strap so that it can be carried around easily (although it does somewhat resemble a purse at that point). It's a touch finicky getting the strap attached but it does help greatly if you need to transport it somewhere. I also like that the speaker can be used in either horizontal or vertical format. The build quality is very nice and it apparently uses some recycled and eco-friendly materials. Sony rates its waterproofness at IP67 so it's both waterproof and dust-proof. They also tout that it's shockproof so it should hold up well in virtually any scenario. Battery life is listed as 24 hours( probably in "Stamina" mode) and a quick charge of 10 minutes gives you 2 hours of playback. You can also use the speaker as a portable battery pack to power up other items that connect via the USC B port on the back, which is super helpful. The USB C port is hidden inside a flip down door that keeps the unit waterproof. Within the app, you can also select the "Stamina" setting that turns off some of the flashier speaker features to extend battery life. There is also a "Battery Care" feature that only charges the battery up to 90% so the life of the speaker is optimized.
Set up was easy. The buttons located on the unit are for power, device pairing, multi-speaker connection, volume and the ULT feature which increased the bass and "richness" of the speaker's sound. Pairing was easy. I just launched the Sony Connect app (on my iPhone but it's available for android as well). It was very quick to pair and it then prompted me to update the unit's firmware, which took about 20 minutes. Once that was done, I rifled through the app to see what features it offered..and it offered a TON of stuff. I'm just going to mention them briefly as I probably won't use many of them but it's nice to see they exist in case I ever have the need. The app offers a custom 7 band equalizer for even more sound customization. It offers a DJ Control feature that allows you to add additional sound effects while playing music, like record-scratching, drum effects, audience cheers and more. I can see this being fun for parties. The ULT 3 allows for 2 devices to be connected to it at once, and the speaker also has Sound Field optimization so it can deliver the best sound by listening and adjusting to the surrounding environment.
The sound quality is amazing as usual. I strongly recommend using the "ULT" feature on the unit as it makes for a much more dramatic sound. Without it, the music sounded a bit flat but of course, you can fix that via the custom equalizer within the app. I was very happy with just the ULT button on and didn't need any further customization. It's very clear, powerful and it gets very loud. The sound distortion is at a minimum when the volume is turned way up. I only recommend testing that once..lol. The speaker has a "Connect" button that allows you to link it to another compatible Sony speaker for true stereo sound or all the way up to 100 other compatible Sony speakers, giving you a much more immersive experience. The speaker can also be used for taking hands-free phone calls and has "Echo Cancelling" technology that provides very clear sound.
Overall, Im super happy with this new speaker and all it has to offer. It's arrived just in time for Spring and Summer outings and will be happy used as often as possible. Thank you Sony for another impressive offering, that so far, does not disappoint!
Hi WandaR, thanks for your feedback. We're really sorry you’re having trouble with your ULT FIELD 3 not holding a charge. Here are a few things you can try:
1) Make sure you’re using the original charging cable that came with the speaker, if possible.
2) Plug the charger directly into a wall outlet (not a power strip or USB port on a computer), and let it charge for at least a couple of hours.
3) Check if the charging port is clean and free of dust or debris.
We appreciate your feedback regarding the bass on your ULT FIELD 3 Wireless Speaker. If the "ULT POWER SOUND" mode isn't quite hitting the right note for you, please remember you can always fine-tune the sound to your preference using the Sony | Sound Connect app. Within the app, you'll find a 7-band equalizer that allows you to customize the bass, mid-range, and treble levels, giving you precise control to achieve the ideal sound for your listening enjoyment. You can find how to do it here: https://helpguide.sony.net/speaker/7866/v1/en/contents/TP1001870473.html

This is Sony's newest speaker. It replaces their Extra bass lineup overall the Ult series. This is their smaller speaker but it packs a punch.
Inside the box you get:
Short USB Type C to USB Type C cable
The speaker itself
And a strap so you could carry it on your shoulder
I'll say the negatives first to get it out of the way. This is a Sony Speaker and not a cheap one at it but it lacks LDAC support which is ashame I wish it had it. Also if you have the Ult button on than you can't do a custom EQ which also sucks. Otherwise those are the only negatives that stand out.
Anyways in terms of basic specs it is a Bluetooth 5.2, 24 hours of battery life , one woofer, tweeter and 2 passive radiators. It also is IP67 so you don't have to worry about getting it wet near a pool, bathroom or etc.
As far as sound goes it gets decently loud for the size of the speaker and with the Ult button its bass is very pronounced like what you'll expect from the older extra bass line of products. For parties and etc this sounds great.

My favorite BT speaker I use for working out started getting a little rattle so I used that as an excuse to start looking for a replacement instead of digging to see what the issue was. That speaker sounded so nice with deep rumbling base, clear mids and highs. It was perfect.
First impression when I opened the box was, "Man, this Ult Field 3 is gonna be weak!" The puny speaker wasn't gonna be able to put out the sound I wanted at least replicate with my other speaker. So, I hook it up to my tablet, launched YT Music, and ... Whoa! I had to turn the volume down. How the heck is this little speaker pushing more sound than my bigger speaker? Not only was it louder, but it seemed like the sound surrounds you more than my other speaker. Bass? Heck yes it pushes some very good, deep, clean base. It can't hit the low rumble like a full subwoofer could, but the woofer and ports work to put out bass that matched my speaker with a larger woofer that what the Ult Field 3 has. I haven't tried Ult1 Mode (which sounds like old school Sony Mega-Bass) because the bass is so clean and clear in normal mode that I don't think I'll need it.
So far I'm really diggin this speaker and have decided to retire my old baby. Ult Field 3 is now my chosen workout speaker. Now to find a way to repurpose the old speaker.

I have owned quite a few bluetooth speakers by Sony over the years and usually they always made me happy but, unfortunately, this ULT Field 3 speaker does not. The aesthetics are good. It has a sleek and simple look with the buttons on the top. The build quality feels very good and the removeable strap is great for when I am on the go. I have the white color and it looks great. The charging port is located on the back behind a rubber door. It uses a simple USB type C connector for charging. The battery life is pretty good. Lasts quite a while, even when using at higher volumes a bit. The setup was pretty simple, I just downloaded the app and then connected the speaker to my phone. These good things are all things I expected and always enjoyed about Sony bluetooth speakers. Now, the sound. The sound is honestly not great. I feel that it lacks clarity and definition. When using the equalizer in the app, I am able to adjust the highs and mid range easily but the bass just lacks a lot. I used the bass boost or ULT feature and it just made it sound terrible. The bass was muddy and overly boosted. It drowned out the highs and mid range. With and without the EQ and ULT sound enhancements, it just sounded bad at mid to high volumes. I am very disappointed with this speaker. For something that is at the $199.99 price point, this should sound so much better. Overall, I think there is much better for the same price.

I just purchased this and i’m glad I did. I needed a replacement for my old JBL speaker and I thought I would try Sony. The option to increase base at the touch of a button is fantastic. The sound is excellent. Much better than my old speaker. I deliver mail and I have the speaker blasting. I get some curious looks from my customers but it’s all good. I like it!!
Hi TeeRock, we are really happy to hear that you are so glad you chose the SRS-ULT30 as a replacement for your old speaker! It's fantastic to know that you're experiencing such excellent sound quality and finding it a significant upgrade. We're particularly thrilled that you're enjoying the ULT POWER SOUND feature. It sounds like the powerful and clear audio of the ULT Field 3 is truly making your mail delivery route more enjoyable!
Thanks for choosing Sony! Best regards, Estefany

This is a mighty little speaker its loud and the subwoofer sounds great.
Thank you so much for your awesome review of the ULT FIELD 3 speaker!
We're thrilled to hear that you find it to be a "mighty little speaker" and that you're impressed with its loudness and, especially, the great sound of the subwoofer. That's exactly what we aimed for with the ULT FIELD series—powerful, deep bass and clear sound in a portable package.
