We appreciate your honest take on the lighting. While we went for a more ambient, "mood-matching" glow for this model, we totally hear you if you were looking for something a bit more high-energy.
If you haven't already, try downloading the Sony | Sound Connect app! You can actually change the lighting patterns to see if one of the other presets feels a bit more your style.

Decent for most

I prefer the sound from the Middleton because it has bass and treble controls on the actual speaker. The ULT 5 has software equalizers that don't work as well. That being said the ULT 5 can get a little louder than the Middleton. Both are close in pricing.
