It’s awesome that the quick bass adjustment without an app is working out for you. We totally get your feedback about the noise canceling in a super noisy spot like an auditorium full of kids. To make the most of the noise canceling function, we recommend to make sure that headphones are worn properly and also turn off the Adaptive Sound Control, and try to turn on the noise canceling function manually when you need it. The noise canceling function is effective in low frequency ranges such as airplanes, trains, offices, near air-conditioning, and is not as effective for higher frequencies, such as human voices. Hi LegionOfJoom, thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts on the Sony - ULT WEAR! We are happy to hear that you like the superior sound quality they deliver. In regards to the active noise canceling going in and out randomly, we would like to share some steps that can help:
1- Turn off the Adaptive Sound Control, this feature detects the wearer's actions and will adjust the noise canceling function automatically, turn it off to have a stable noise canceling effect
2- Check the setting of [Ambient Sound Control]. If it is set to [Ambient Sound], the effect of noise canceling is reduced. Set it to the noise canceling mode. You can do this on the Sony Sound Connect App
3- Initializing the headset to restore factory settings, you can follow the instructions in the link below: https://helpguide.sony.net/mdr/2981/v1/en/contents/TP1001300236.html
