They are a true meaning of the description that the manufacturer stated. No noise was blocked and I was able to sleep like a baby. I will strongly recommend to all my friends and family

Seriously, I took them off, after a 2hr plane ride and the earmuffs were soaked with sweat. They definitely cancelled the background noise, and they definitely sounded good, but Sony should find a way to make them more comfortable so that they don't "soak" your head. I'll still recommend them however make sure you don't have a similar issue.
