    You know, I have weighted back and forth on another brand of headphones that would offer better bass response, but never pulled the trigger. I stumbled upon these a few weeks ago, did a lot of research and decided to give the a go. A wise decision on my point. Sony has always been hit or miss for me; I like clarity and punch in my music; not just overwhelming bass (like the other model of headphones I was looking at). These, even wih the ULT button (which amps up the bass by 2 levels) simply worked well, allowing me to listen to everything from hip-hop to classical music. It is a great combo of affordability, including a lot of the more expensive Sony headphones tricks (like cupping. the right earcup to lower the volume so you can converse w/o removing the headphones, for example)for about $200 less. Highly recommended.
