Great Value
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this turntable for another room in my house. I have an old thorns turntable in another room. I have been through a few turntables and pre amps over the years with poor results. reason, hooking a turntable to an amp without phono input. Which I have done here, simply flip switch to input on the turntable and plug into back off your amp. The thorns turntable it is competeing with is a $900.00 turntable and stylis. I am amazed at the playback quality of this turntable, ease of use, no poping or skiping. I have not recorded with this turntable, mostly interested in playback quality. For the price, go buy it now! A+

Worst birthday ever
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this turntable as a gift for my husband's birthday after reading good reviews here. The turntable arrived on time and intact, and I excitedly wrapped it along with several of his favorite albums. He was overjoyed to open it and started setting it up the next day. The software that came with this product asked for an item number, which was nowhere to be found. When we contacted Sony for more information, my husband was told that this product hasn't been in production since 2009, and because it is "SO OLD" they wouldn't be able to help us. This prompted my husband to ask me where I got it, and how much I paid for it. I was mortified. After some online sleuthing, he finally got the turntable to work -- it took over an hour to figure out, and he's no slouch! But, it gets worse. When he put a record on, it played way too fast. He found other reviews saying they had the same problem, and the support response was that the motor was defective and would need to go in for repairs. Remember -- this was a new turntable right out of the box. Unbelievable! Not only am I embarrassed, but incredibly disappointed that a gift could turn out so bad. I now have a bunch of vinyl and a special stand, with no workable turntable. Needless to say, I'm taking this back and demanding a refund. My advice -- literally buy any turntable but this one. Surely you can find one from this decade that will work better. If only Best Buy sold time machines so I could go back and save myself the hassle and embarrassment.

A Fantastic Record Player!!!!!!!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. In late May, I got this right after my High School Graduation Ceremony because people gave me money. I didn't go out and get one of those $1,000 DJ Turntables. I wanted a basic home stereo record player by a popular named brand, so I grabbed a Sony record player. I opened it right out of the box and it took 20 seconds to hook up. I like 70's and 80's Rock and Heavy Metal, so the first record I put in was "Rock And Roll Over" by KISS. It sounded fantastic. Why do people buy $1,000 turntables for? Im surprised this doesn't cost more. If your looking for a very good, basic record player, get this one! You won't be sorry.

Simple, good quality for the price
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. With a solid preamp or stereo system, I can imagine this turntable being amazing. Right now, I've been too lazy to get it plugged into my home audio system, so I have (through a couple adapters) got it playing on my Bose Companion IIs. The volume is good for listening in a bedroom or with a friend in a small den. The audio quality, however, is amazing. And a gain, with a stereo system, volume would not be a problem. I had never put a record player together before, and the instructions made that as easy as I can imagine it being. Listening to record No. 3 right now.

Good for the price
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Easy setup. Works mostly as intended; the start button is finicky...Starts at random points on the record, your better off placing the needle on your own. No other complaints. I like it.

Equipment is perfect
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It's the software that needs to be more user friendly. Took a while to get familiar with the software and how to merge tracks if it separated them. It can be done but does take an understanding of it before using it. Does have to be babysat for correct track recording. It can be recorded as 1 long track and manully separated or recorded 1 track at a time. Make sure you have your computer set correctly for recording inputs and playback. Could have been clearer in documentation.

Great sound, easy setup
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this turntable to listen to some old albums I found in my aunt's basement. They're all from the 70's or early and sound like new. My only problem with it is that the RCA audio cable is really short and you can't replace it with a longer cable.

It was what I expected
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Decent quality reproduction from the tonearm given its force is not adjustable. Did not notice too much noise from the audio track plots mapped by the software. Biggest grief is insufficient flexibility or utility to better define track selection criteria when ripping an entire album. I recommed the AVS4You Audio Suite instead.

Excellent product to bring old school back
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this on an impulse while i was returning a phono preamplifier, of which i used to play my old Techinics turntable through my new stereo reciever which did not have phono input, and the quality of the preamp was horrible, so I seen this and began to read features to waste some time, and i thought maybe it was time for an upgrade. I brought it home and was really impressed with sound quality, It truly made Frampton Comes Alive, well come alive :P I havent tried USB recording out yet, its mainly a replacement player to bring the LP's back to life without having an age old reciever.

Pretty good
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this record player simply to play the vinyl I collect, and because I didn't want to spend hundreds of dollars more on something else. It was very simple to set up, it sounds and works great. The only two things that are a minor inconvenience is that the cord is a little short, and a needle replacement was a little hard to find, but I found one. If you are looking for one, you can find one on LPGear.com. It's about 30 bucks, so it's kind of spendy. Just don't be stupid like me and hit the play button by accident so it plays all night and wears down the needle lol. So overall, this product is great and I would recommend it to anyone just looking to listen to some vinyl.

Good Turntable - Good Sound- Easy to Use
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Easy to install and operate. I connected this to an older Yamaha receiver. If going to an amp/receiver, switch to "phono" position instead of "line". The sound is very good, I converted a few tunes to MP3 using Audacity on my macbook. It was very easy to do and the sound is very good. No complaints.

Excellent value for money
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I hooked this up to my Bose Companion 3 Series II powered speakers and it sounds pretty amazing. I just got into vinyl and didn't want to spend $500+ on "audiophile" equipment. After giving a couple of cheaper products a try (they sounded quite horrible) I picked the Sony turntable and it sounds really good. For comparison, I played the same album on my iPod (I buy 256kbps AAC files on iTunes) connected to the same Bose speakers and the Sony turntable sounds just as good. Perhaps the "audiophile" level turntables sound even better, but if it sounds atleast as good as my iPod, that's good enough for me! Don't waste your money on anything lesser though - I tried and returned 3 different products before getting this one!

Best Turntable!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Fantastic overall product! The quality of the product is incredible! All you have to do is press play and let the machine do all the work. Very easy to set up (can be done in 5 mins or less) and even easier to connect to speakers. USB connection is great addition as well.

Bought as a replacement for my 1980's Technics
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I wanted to play all those old LP's that had been packed away for years. My high end Technics turntable died . . . and no way was I going to break the bank going to that price range again. The Sony may not sound as good as the Technics did in the 80's but it seems to be filling my needs . . . . hearing great artists that I had almost forgotten about. Plugged and Played with little to no effort. Works well with my 1970's reciever/.amp. It is great to get more that you pay for sometimes.
