Don't forget to switch on the built in Pre-Amp!

I've tried the Sony USB turntable with both a laptop and a digital receiver. My initial frustration with the receiver turned to joy when I realized that I only needed to flip a switch on the back side of the turntable to get the pre-amp function. This is not a studio quality turntable, but it works for hearing some tunes and recording some albums.

I just bought this yesterday. I set it up in minutes from unpacking it. The instructions were really helpful. This is my first record player ever, so coming from me, if i can set it up so can anyone. I hooked it up to my home theater amplifier which already had connectors for the male ends from the record player. I probably wont use the usb ever though since i have most records on cd's.

    Open Box find

I purchased this turntable as an open-box item for $59. It was already assembled and ready to go. I was not looking for another turntable at the time, just picking out some new vinyl albums for Christmas. I got it anyway, for a another present. It tested out perfectly. Good sound. The needle pops were audible on my speakers, which is what I like to hear. Granted. this is not a studio-quality turntable with pitch adjustment or direct drive, but it will serve my needs quite nicely. I can buy lot of needles for this and still come out way ahead in the long term.

Player works better than expected. Program for converting LP's to digital is very easy to use. Could do a better job of doing restoration but acceptable. Labeling of tracts difficult to edit if you make a mistake. Downloded MP3Tag fee program to correct some of my mistakes. Processed (75) +- 45's in 5 days Happy with results. Going to spend some time reviewing the instruction before I start on my LP collection to see if I can inprove the restoration quality.

I purchased this in order to play the vinyl collection that I recently started. It works perfectly my only complaint is that the audio cables are a bit short which limits your options for connecting to stereos unless you get extenders. I have not used the conversion software that came along with it so I don't know about how well that works.

This is the same turntable as the Audio-Technica plus USB. Exactly the same, other than the rubber sheet has different Logo, and the needle guard flips away rather than come off. This includes the recording program, which is Sony's version of Matrix. When you click on support, goes to Matrix. If you want the program, and the USB, then get this. Otherwise use the line-out and Audicity and get the Audio-Technica

Good player poor software and support

The player itself worked well but I had trouble with the software that came with this player. Even though it said it was compatible with windows 7, 8 and 8.1 Sony will only support it if installed on older versions of windows such as xp. There is no phone support only chat is available. The basic problem with this software is in trying to record separate audio files. I finally figured out how to do this but is not straight forward.

We hooked this up to a Bose SoundTouch Wave Radio as a Father's Day gift for my father-in-law. He is 88 and we were trying to simplify the operation over his old component system - too many buttons to remember and too many wires. The combination of the all in one Bose, plus this turntable, he can listen to all his music with ease. Two wires and there are two modes for the turn table - on or off. EASY!

I got this for my dad as a father's day present. He absolutely loves it! All of this albums can now be put onto CDs and preserved. I have no complaints although it was a bit pricey. It was definitely better than similar models. No problems so far and it's been almost 6 months.

    it's OK but not great

It works, I can play my vinyl and record it via USB but it isn't what I hoped for. The software supplied with it is very simple to use and does a reasonable but not superior job or removing pops and clicks. To get good sound though I had to order a pre-amplifier so I could use the RCA output. Sound through USB is poor, and that's running it into an excellent digital sound card and out through a very high quality speaker set. For the price it should have had more features and been able to play through the supplied RCA cords, which are hardwired and very short by the way, without a pre-amplifier

    Reliable Turntable, Complex Software

PS-LX-300-USB. Had it for a year and a half now. Works every time, that's a Sony for you. The software is comprehensive and once you get used to it you'll find many other features besides what you need just to digitize records. The "track finder" is unreliable on less than perfect vinyl, and once you record, restore and enhance your music you then have to put all the album/artist info in for each song in 'files' so media player can find them. I've used it on about 25 albums now and had the hang of it after 2 or 3. Good value, better if you're not expecting it to be 'fully automatic'

This was the 2nd player that I bought after exchanging the crossley. While the player isn't portable it's still really great. You do have to buy a separate speaker system for it BUT even then the quality is still great. I haven't had any problems with this player. As most people know just be careful about where you place it and dust it frequently!

    Missing ground

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I bought this turntable to replace my 30 year old turntable and to digitize my vinyl. As a turntable it works well when connected to the "line out" jacks. When connected to my amp with the phono cables there is a bad hum. Sony support says to connect the separate ground wire to eliminate the hum but this model has no ground wire or any place to connect one. I gave up on Sony's on line support. I would prefer to use the phono jack and not have to use one of my aux inputs on my amp. The software included is easy to use and will clean up some pops, clicks, and scratches but not all. Overall I am happy with the turntable except for the hum. Eliminating the ground wire is unforgivable. I would not recommed this turntable anyone who would expect to connect it to the phono jack on their AV system

    (I used to) Love Sony

Sony was my only. I swore by it, never needed to research a product. But in the last few years I've noticed Sony products not lasting forever like they used to. I bought this model turntable. Used it less than 100 hrs. when I noticed that 33 1/3 is more like 33.5. That's right, it runs fast! I can't transfer my vinyl if the turntable speed is wrong. Of course, this started to happen right after the warranty expired. There is no way to adjust the speed either. I may have to start buying other products. Sorry, Sony, I'll miss you.
