    Disappointing.

The battery life is poor (only 3 hours). The noise cancellation barely reduces ambient noise at all. When you turn them off and back on using the button on the left earbud, the right earbud then does not produce sound. On the bright side, the sound quality is not bad. I had high hopes for these earbuds, and if they worked as advertised they would be worth $200, but there are just too many deficiencies. I've returned them.

Just bought them today. My roommate convinced me to return them tomorrow since he was feeling lazy to go with me today to do so. They are not that good. They connected with iphone 8 without hiccup and played music from all apps. The bass is pretty good (bass lovers take note) and on the other end, so is the treble. But then I played youtube and YES there is a lag. I had read about this before but thought I'd give it a try. Its annoying if you focus on it too much. Otherwise meh. Then I thought of pairing it with my laptop. And that is where it gets interesting. They got paired easily but the sound is only coming through the left earbud. I turned it off and on again, paired/unpaired, put it back in the case and took it out but nothing was able to get it to work properly. Also, interestingly, the youtube this time did not have any lags. God knows why it has such antics.

I bought these and loved them the second I tried them on, then I tried watching a video. There is a huge delay when watching videos no matter what app I try. The App that they suggest you use with the headphones don't always connect even when the headphones are already connected to the paired device. I am so sad because they sound great and fit great but the sync issue is not something that anyone should overlook and this product should not have been put on the market with such a major flaw.

    Great Sound, Bad Connectivity

    Posted .

I've had these headphones for about a week, and have used them primarily at the gym and while walking around Manhattan. The sound quality is amazing, the equalizer settings are worthwhile, the design is comfortable, the controls are easy to use (albeit without volume controls), and the noise cancellation exceeded expectations when the music volume was high. HOWEVER: the right earpiece consistently disconnected at almost every intersection I crossed, and whenever a cab or police car drove by, and sometimes due to being close to a person with Bluetooth turned on on their phones. The left earpiece never disconnected from the phone, but the right one, which receives info from the left, not from the phone, has a weak connection to the master earpiece. Also due to this master/slave relationship and need to relay information from the phone to the left earpiece and then to the right while having them play at the same time, all videos are out of sync. My pair has been updated with the latest firmware from Sony as of the time of this posting, and while I believe it may have resolved the disconnection issue slightly, the radio strength between the two earpieces just isn't strong enough for city street interference.

These headphones could have honestly been much better for its price point, I see these as being $80-100 headphones, that is being generous. First reason for that is the charging dock/case. It seems so cheap, like not much was put into the design of it, lack of ergonomics, and the hinge, one of the more important features of it, seems so cheap as it has a lot of play in it. Next reason is the sound quality, now the sound quality would be acceptable if the pricing point was literally at least half of what it really is. But being just $50 less than the newest bose wireless headphones which sound amazing, these cannot even compete. I have tried all types of music going thru them and yes there are some types of sounds that sound okay, but anything with a little more bass than usual just sounds terrible, very muddy sounding. Also noticed if there is a break of sound in a song or a quieter part, there is a constant static going on in the background and putting the ambient sound and noise cancelling features on or off did not seem to improve it. A pro of these though was Sony did a good job of giving you plenty of different ear tip options to make them comfortable. They give you two different types of material tips too which is something I have been wishing for a company to do with wireless headphones for a long time. Overall if this budget is where you are comfortable at, spend the little bit more and get the bose headphones, if these are at the top of your budget and you make the assumption that because these are pricey they will be good, you are wrong! I literally have a $30 pair of bluetooth headphones that I still prefer over these.

Been wanting wireless stereo for awhile, but nothing but bad reviews on all of them, especially the part about endless disconnections..these are different though, and after a week or so using them, I have only been disconnected once, and that was my fault. Sound is pretty good, and there is an app you can use to tweak the settings..Like them alot so far, using them on my Note 8 phone, so YMMV with a different phone!

These Sony WF-1000x earbuds fall slightly short for me to recommend. PROs • Super crisp and clean sound. You can hear every cymbal and "s" • Barely any hiss which you get on other wireless headsets • Lightweight • Three different fits included for various ear sizes; these are the first earbuds that fit my wife’s smaller ears comfortably • Sony app lets you customize sound a bit with an equalizer • Good microphone for speaking – listener on the other end could hear me fine • Stays put in the ear without falling out (though it's not sweatproof for working out) CONs • Biggest negative is bass is not deep enough, and I am not a bass-head. Even the Sony app's equalizer could not help here. With ear buds, you need a pretty snug fit for lower frequencies to resonate off your ear canal. Despite that, I never got satisfying deep notes. • Second big negative is a short battery life, roughly 3 hours. • I could not really tell the difference with noise cancellation on versus off, and this is a highly touted feature of this product • No volume control – must use phone to adjust • Can pair with only one device at a time. Other premium headsets let you quickly swap the connection with multiple devices. • Phone calls played only in the left ear. Not sure if this is a feature or a bug, but I prefer voice calls to play in both ears. In short, while the sound that's emitted is extremely clean and full of clarity, the lack of bass, battery life, and noise canceling don't justify its premium price.

Good fit, noise canceling could be better

So this was my first experience with noise canceling earbuds. I've had noise canceling headphones in the past with mixed results, but mostly positive since they tend to cover your whole ear, so in addition to active noise canceling, they have the added benefit of shielding your ears from any additional sound. These.. not so much. Connecting them was easy and they work fairly well. I paired them with the NFC capability which was a snap, quick and painless, no need for bluetooth codes or anything. The sound quality is on par with most of the better earbuds I've had without really standing out from the crowd. Not really sure what else to put about that, they are good earbuds without being great. It's cool to be completely wireless though. The real selling point is the noise canceling, which I found to be passable at best, and it could be that they dont shield your ear from other sound since they are earbuds instead of headphones, but they do an alright job for what they are. Overall a pretty decent set of earbuds... One final note however... It seems impossible to buy earbuds now-a-days that dont go in the ear canal. By and large I find all canal earbuds to be uncomfortable, but it seems that only the cheap ones come in the traditional earbud style anymore. While these are comfortable, they are still a far cry in comfort from any of the old style non-canal earbuds that used to be the norm. I wish companies would release better versions of those.

Frequent Disconnects and NO Noise Cancelling

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I was originally super excited about these since I didn't like wearing cans and looking like a DJ. Hence I prefer ear buds. However, I was quite disappointed with these. Bought these on the day of release as I wanted to use the NC feature to drown out plane noise during travel and loud Caltrain/muni rides to/from work. NC is worthless!!! I can hear everything... from cars, planes, train horns, alarms, conversations, etc. it doesn't even try to mute any of these sounds. No difference in turning active noise cancelling on or off. I've also tried all the different fit of ear pieces and jammed it in my ear to create a seal. no difference. I should have kept my wired bose QC20 ear buds instead those were 100x better than these for NC but they were wired which I hated. As most pointed out, these frequently disconnect when you're walking. Music cuts in and out. Quite annoying. Battery life isn't great either but I can live with that if this actually had noise cancelling and a more stable connection Unfortunately I can't return these since I'm on a 3 month business travel currently so I'm stuck! To all those thinking about these... don't do it!

These are a nicely package set of earphone/buds. The sound filtering was fairly easy to use and seemed to work alright. Volume control and equalizer features were also good. I've had a few sets of wireless headphone/mic combos and these seem to be roughly the same quality as my JBLs - but they allow a bit freer more natural head movement.

Hello all, I just got my Sony Bluetooth headset today and even though I only have them for just a few hours. I have to say that I'm very impressed at the sound quality. Yes they are not that loud and when you first put them on, you will right away think this is not going to work lol. But when you listen to the sound signature it's very well balanced and you almost forget they the valume is not that loud. You can also turn off the EQ and it gives you a louder sound. With the app you can control what you hear. With that said, some of you still won't be happy and that's ok but for me. And God knows that I love my music loud lol but I have to say that I'm very happy with my purchase. Oh yeah and the Bluetooth connection is very solid. Well I hope that will help you in deciding in your purchase of Bluetooth earbuds

I have tried quite a few of these true wireless earbuds from a few different companies but these are one of my favorites. You can connect them with either Bluetooth or NFC ( by using the included charging case). They last about 2.5 half hours of real time usage (states officially 3) and the charging case is supposed to hold 2 more charges. You also get an app to control the amount of noise cancelation you want and an eq as well. I haven't noticed any skips in playback unless you have them in your hands in a fist. Sound quality wise if you want true wireless earbuds or just hate cords these are one of the best you can get in the $200 to $300 price range.

These are designed to fit snugly inside the ear. They are comfy and extremely lightweight. They also stay put through a workout. The rest of the world may as well be on “mute” when the buds are in noise cancel mode (adjustable by the button on the left bud). You’ll hear nothing but your music! And you music will sound really good—far better than most competitors. Connection is superior to others I have tried. I can walk from one side of the office building to the other and maintain clear sound. Battery life is the average three hours, with two full charges in the case, and 75 minutes air time on a 15 minute charge. Two major (for me) cons worth the loss of a star: you cannot use the buds singularly, you either wear both or none. There is no on-bud volume control.

I bought these in November after blackfriday to only be dissapointed. It is not true noise cancelling since you have to shove it all the way in your ear to truly filter everything out. If you eat or walk it starts to come loose. When you get a phone call or make a call, only one side actually works and the other person has a hard time hearing you. Music does sound ok but when watching video, the audio lag is just too much to stomach. This is what made me really bring them back more than anything. I’ll hold off till they make a better model.

I was looking between these and others the thing that got me was the noise canceling. I tried them out and the battery life lasted about 3 hours and Sony does do a good job at giving it a premium feel. With all this being said I could not get over the lag on videos there is a 1-2 sec delay which for $200 that is not acceptable. I had to go back return these and get the AirPods which I should have done at the beginning.

    It's a beta product

In my opinion, this is a beta product. Not sure why Sony is starting to push such items into the market. Pros: 1. Great sound 2. Decent noise cancelation for its category 3. Good enhancements in the form of controls within the app Cons: 1. No physical controls to skip track or change volume 2. Battery case. If you don't wait for your buds to go Red after inserting, although you have inserted them right into the slot, you are just discharging whatever juice is leftover in them. I charged them overnight, and when I took them out in my commute, I heard the voice prompt say low battery 3. Battery level. Discharges fast, under 1 hour with noise canceling on 4. Tips. The silicone tips you get with these headphones are very cheap, low quality. They were starting to wear of on the second day, under 10 hours of use. The small size is more like a medium, so they were falling off, twice in 1 day. Went straight back to the store. I would have recommended this product were it not for the issues with the battery case and the cheap material used for making the tips. My advise, it's a NO GO

During the 2017 holidays I decided to purchase some wireless earbuds. First set purchased Jabra the sound was to shrill and the fit uncomfortable within minutes and just panful after 30 minutes. They also fell out while walking let alone during a working out. Second model purchased was a Bose - Soundsport great sound, comfortable but not suitable for use when running or working out as they always fell out. Next try was the Sony WF1000X. Sound was good, not as balanced and full as the Bose soundsport, but good. Fit and comfort great. Issue was recharge case after several months achieving contact for recharge got sloppy and recharge success was inconsistent. Thanks to Best Buy Protection plan I was able to replace with new set. Now that I've had my second set for 6 months I'm experiencing the same issues with the recharge pack also experiencing a significant increase in the frequency of signal drop for right earbud. I use my earbud 4-6 days a week. More importantly I don't abuse the earbuds or recharge pack. Still thinking through next steps. Question has Sony recognized recharge pack design weakness?

I am using this gear for a couple of days now. It looks amazing, but its function is not even near what a Sony product should do. I already used it for walks, office, and home hoping for a noise canceling function and I do not literally get any improvement than the passive noise canceling I already have had with my other earbuds. Furthermore, you would get constant disconnections and interruption when you get close to Wifi APs, and if you avoid them (can you?) it would good. Also, there is a serious lag when I am trying to watch a movie either on my laptop or smartphone which is annoying. All in all, I think, based on the price, it is a good wireless earbud if you just want to listen to music and you can get used to avoiding to getting too close to Wifi APs.

Not bad for music, horrible lag for video

These pair quickly and I had no connectivity issues with them. Music is clear and sounds very good. Call's sound good and people on the other end indicated the same. The noise canceling is pretty much only by isolation, the 'active' portion is very mild. Put them together and a lot of noise IS actually blocked/reduced. Battery life at 3 hours is middle of the road. Now, on to the big issue with this set of ear buds, video. Lag is very bad on this set. Watching YouTube videos, where the presenter is off screen is OK, but anything else was iterating at best. You will see reviews where a Sony rep answers (usually when there are complaints) and tells the reviewer to go grab the latest firmware and you'll be all set. Don't believe it, my set came with the latest firmware and still has the lag problem. Maybe they will get it fixed someday. I took these back and picked up a set of the Jabra Elite 65t true wireless earbuds. Everything works very well on those, the battery last 2 hours longer too.
